Captain Herp Derp

So I borrowed Halo CE Anniversary from a friend. I’m on Truth and Reconciliation. I rescued Captain Herp Derp and he can’t stay alive for anything!! Oh look an Elite with a sword. Oh HAI buddy what’s up! Bring it in for a hug man! And if he doesn’t get himself killed all his derppanions shoot him!!! What do I do?!

*Edit

On top of all that. HE WON’T SHOOT HIS GUN!!! He won’t defend himself!

Can’t you kill the enemies before they get to him? Did it on Heroic on my third try. (And found the terminal :D)

I ended up having to trap him in a corner and waiting for all the bad guys to come to me. I got past it though.

Haha, great name for me. Yeah, the first time I ever escorted on Legendary was an absolute train wreak, mostly because Keyes obviously wasn’t having a good day, and wanted to kill himself at every opportunity.

I found the only way to get through without too much hassle is to keep moving forward, not allowing him to catch to do something dumb.

I haven’t ever had a problem with that escort part even on legendary. Few times he has died due to his idiotines. You have to clear the way before he kills himself by running throught enemies. He is idiot, indeed. But it’s not that hard after all.

Haha now on Assault on Control Room I said “OK guys. I’m going over there to pick up that sniper rifle. I’ll be gone for literally 2 seconds. NOBODY DIE!!”

Guess what happened. All of them. 5 or 6 of em to. Facepalm

This worked for me in Normal when Grunt Funeral explosions kept killing him…

You know the room with the two Stealth Elites that carry Energy Swords? Walk in, kill the Elites, and then stand in the exact area they spawned in – one of the back corners of the room. Keyes and friends will gather in that back area and wait there. When the enemies come bursting in through two or three doors, chuck grenades and return fire, but stay put until your allies start firing. Once the Marines and Keyes start shooting, they shouldn’t move around too much (as they’ll be busy shooting), so you can step a few feet away from the group (but not too far) without them following.

Basically, there are four to six distinct firing positions that they’ll willingly take up, depending on which one you are closest to.

Same thing happened to me and a friend when we were playing on Legendary. We had to restart from last checkpoint like 7 times before we got past. :stuck_out_tongue:

I had this when playing original CE a few months back, checkpoint saved whilst keyes was on 1 shot and he would constantly keep running into the enemys ended up having the stick the two elites jump in front of keyes and kill the remaining enemies whilst avoiding taking fire … that was frustrating at best.

This.

It makes the following Grunt ambush a breeze.
