Captain has a temper tantrum?

Then how does he become a captain in the first place? This felt like poor writing, that person wouldn’t be in charge if he had a history of temper tantrums. Like really guys.

And who quotes a law down to the paragraph number, ect?

I think the moment Captain Del Rio reached his limit was a moment the writers wanted to add some drama. I think they could have done that scene a bit better by having Del Rio give Master Chief a chance to take down the Didact. It would sort of be like the moment in Halo 2 where Lord Hood give the Chief permission to “give the Covenant back their bomb.” It would have made his character have more faith in the Chief. Then, Master Chief fails at doing his objective, the captain realizes how much of a threat the Didact is, Master Chief still wants to take down the Didact, and that’s when Captain Del Rio get’s mad.

There was definitely a lot of “drama” aspect to this scene however, u have to look at the context…An A.I. that is obviously rampant and literally surged the whole ship…the capt also has a ship full of regular soldiers and a handful of Spartans. Yes he could order the attack and risk losing most or he can order the pull back and raise a warning beacon (which to NORMAL solider is probably the trained response) also the quoting of full articles is part of command training much like a lawyer having to know the ins and outs of a law, he would have at least the most important laws down in memory.
