Right so i finished halo 4 and i’m now onto halo 5, i was just remembering how much of a professional -Yoink–head captain Del Rio was, the bit where he’s like ‘GIVE ME THE BLOODY AI’ I was begging the master chief to punch him or something. Is Del Rio in Halo 5? If so, does he die horribly? I hope so.

Sorry he’s not in Halo 5 at all. (Good riddance to a badly written character in my opinion)
Last I heard about Del Rio, he’d become a senator and was apparently calling Master Chief a ‘false’ Spartan, whatever that is suppose to mean.
Either way, none of this has any impact on the plot of Halo 5. He may appear in Infinite as some kind of human collaborator to either the Banished or Created maybe?
He’s not in Halo 5. You’ll want to listen to the HUNT the TRUTH audio series to find out what happened to Del Rio after Halo 4, Del Rio’s story isn’t terribly exciting but the rest of the show is. Hunt the Truth was a marketing show for Halo 5 but it was honestly a way better story than the actual game.
If you don’t have the time or effort to binge Hunt The Truth then and just want to know about Del Rio…
He became a politician on the moons of Jupiter. He regularly talked about how bad the Spartan-II program is (and technically he’s not wrong. They kidnapped kids and experimented on them) and praised the more ethical Spartan-IV program. After various insults he eventually acknowledged that Chief is a hero; and lived a relatively peaceful life.

He’s not dead, at least not that we know of. Last we heard of him was in Hunt the Truth when he became a highly endorsed senator but after taking a leave of absence after recanting his words about John, nothing was heard of him since. I may not be a fan of him but his perspectives do leave me curious, like what were his issues with the Spartan-IIs. We understood Ackerson since he was just a short-sighted jerk who didn’t like Halsey but what was Del Rio’s reasoning. Really leaves my curiousity at a peak.
