Captain Del Rio

I was playing a bit of Halo 4 today, and something sorta dawned on me…

In retrospect, had the Masterchief surrendered Cortana to Del Rio for final dispensation, Halo 5 would not have happened. If Del Rio would have managed to take possession of Cortana, and lock her USB drive in a drawer somewhere, she would not have had the chance to do all that nonsense with The Guardians. It is funny to think that had Del Rio had gotten his way, the plot of Halo 5 would have been much different.

Then again, you have to consider how the rest of Halo 4 would have played out if Del Rio had his way.

I am curious if anyone else had thought about this. What do you guys think?

The plot of Halo 5 would have been different because without Cortana, the Ur-Didact would have composed all of humanity.

I don’t really like Andrew Del Rio. I’m kinda glad I’ve written his name in the Death Note LOL.

I wonder how he’s handling the situation of the Created, as he’s a senator now.

I’m more wondering how he would take a chance of this situation…

humanity composed and in return h5’s plot rewritten? count me in…

The Guradians wouldn’t have been activated, but the Didact would likely have compsed a lot more of Humanity before Chief, or the UNSC, managed to stop him.

I would still take that over having to endure a ridiculous AI-dictatorship/war any day.

Actually its possible he’d have eventually activated the guardians anyway. Presumably he thought to restore forerunner rule of the mantle once he was done getting revenge on humanity.

The Covenant would be stronger and it wouldn’t be defeated so easily … and insurrectionists should arise.

  • Earth would have been composed - Chief probably would have been killed - Infinity would have been destroyedThe only way humanity could have been saved is probably by Forerunner monitors coming to humanity’s defence, and even then that’s a long shot.

Cortana helped Chief make it to the Didact’s ship at the end of the mission Shutdown. Without her, he would probably still be on Requiem.
The Didact would have gone to Earth and started composing Humanity. Infinity proved it can put a hole in the Mantle’s Approach, but Infinity would probably have been blown out of the sky before it did too much damage.

Indeed. So in essence, the MC is single-handedly responsible for the events of Halo 5. But he is also responsible for stopping the Didact.

Just another reason to dislike Del Rio then lol

Hell, if we’re talking “what if’s”, what if Master Chief had listened to Guilty Spark and activated Installation 04 back in Combat Evolved?

The Didact would have been able to obtain the composer and do much more damage to Earth, if not have composed the entire planet. Del Rio could have had a moment of redemption for being an -Yoink- the entire game if he flew the Infinity into the Mantel’s Approach.

First off, Captain Del Rio is a complete jerk. I’m sorta glad that Chief disobeyed him, because Chief would have been court marshaled or even suspended from duty. Things happened for a reason.
