Capstone Project - Contact 343

Hello 343 Industries,

I know this introduction may seem cheesy or cliche, but it is not robot spam or anything of the like; considering how this is a public forum post, I do not want to be too specific.

Please allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Greg; on Xbox Live, I go by the gamertag “Commander Prime”.

I recently graduated from an Honors program in college with a concentration in Digital matters (design, culture, etc.). I joined the program because I wanted to do a special project on the Halo franchise. In the following 3 years, the endeavor eventually matured into the research Capstone required for graduation from the program.

The project is a storyboard for future games in the Halo franchise. In other words, I created a story for a future installments in the Reclaimer Saga and beyond. Specifically, I set the plot in the time after Halo 4; it would be ideally function as the main story line for Halo 5 or Halo 6. Due to the long duration of the project and the constantly growing story of Halo, the plot constantly changed (including this Summer, after a certain character appeared in a certain trailer for a certain upcoming game). However, the core of the story, which required the most thorough research and heaviest scrutiny in order to obtain, remained largely the same. Much, if not all of the project could validly fit within the canon of the franchise.

From the start of the program, in addition to the goals I had for the project itself, I kept a personal one in the back of my mind:

If nothing else, I wanted to work hard enough so that at least one person would see the product and believe (not falsely)in it. When I presented the project in the spring, it received an abundance of support, including some from a surprising source: the Director of the Honors Program. As he did for all the students, he came to my booth and thoroughly questioned me on every aspect of the project. His support in and of itself was not surprising. However, his remarks on the project and the effort I put into it will stick with me for the rest of my life. He said,

“This (projects like mine) is why we established this program; this is exactly what we wanted.”

and:

“You should show this to Halo, I think they would love it.”

“Even though you’re an engineer, this is outstanding. You could pursue a career in this (the video game industry as a writer).”

In addition, he has more plans for it which I would prefer to not say in the forum setting.

I am here and hope to show the work to 343 Industries because I made at least someone believe. I would be glad to elaborate on the background of the project and show the work, however, I think it prudent to do so in another setting. After hearing the advice of many, I elected not to post anything publicly until after showing it to 343 Industries first, in the event you like what you see and want to use some, or much, of it in upcoming games.

Who can I contact going forward?

If you all would like, I could private message an alternative contact address (email, Skype, phone, etc.) and we could communicate through that medium.

I apologize if this post is in the wrong subforum. This is actually my first post on Waypoint and even though I read through the guidelines, I’m still not entirely familiar. Thank you for the time, I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Greg
