As the title says im now level capped at 70. I actually played the game well before the 20t November but since im apparently “less-a-player” for being European there’s no specialization codes for me.
I love the game and would enjoy to just keep on playing, however not being able to level is very demotivating for me and i think this goes for a lot of other players too. Compared to others im not even that fast at leveling so i can imagine some must have been stuck at 70 for weeks.
So the only thing that’s left for me is to quit playing until more specializations are unlocked. Business wise, im mind boggled as to who would make such an incredibly stupid decision as to infer such as low cap and not lift it sooner, as if someone is begging halo players to seek other games??
Of course this issue wont affect more casual players as they wont reach anywhere near 70 before the cap is lifted. So the core player base will probably still be playing.
However, i cannot help wonder that by putting in a low cap you are punishing the hardcore fans, those who put in several hours each day. These are also the once you wanna keep, since hardcore fans will buy a lot of your stuff as well as DLC’s AND most important of all, they will by word-of-mouth PRAISE the game to their friends.
Now imagine that all the hardcore fans reached the level cap pretty quick, maybe even started playing other games, do you think they will keep talking about this to their friends in the same manor as before? For me im actually annoyed with i343 atm for this stupid cap and wont be as forgiving for such stupid mistakes. Of course this doesn’t make halo a bad game, i absolutely love it. I just don’t wanna play it while im capped and would encourage my friends to join me in other games instead.
Now what? Well last I checked GameStop put Dishonored on sale for 39.99. Skyrim is not going to save itself and next month the Colonial Marines will need you to mop up some xenomorphs. Capped at 70 no more like the lights green to explore.
If you really like the game you would keep playing. yesterday i played with a 5star general in halo 3 with over 14,000 xp. he hasn’t ranked up in years
I’m sure us europeans getting screwed on the spec. codes has something to do with some intricate distribution deals. Deals that probably made some form of fiscal sense pre-launch.
However, I’m not sure they’ll win out in the long run seeing as this move has generated some considerable badwill this side of the pond.
You guys don’t get it. Of course i know that i can play for fun, play other games and what not im not that stupid, and i probably still will be playing Halo 4 from time to time.
My post was meant more as a statement to 343i as to why they to would demotivate hardcore players with such a low cap? After all, whether im gaining xp or not, it will undoubtedly be more fun for me to play if i can rank up while doing so. I just don’t get why they would kill their own game’s buzz and momentum by leaving players stuck at a level cap for who knows how long.
Players could potentially reach the cap even before the DLC was released, which is business wise very bad as you would want players to stick around long enough to spend extra money on map passes and what not.
what you do is simple, you stop playing the game because there is nothing more available to you for a good time (months!!) and what you earn now won’t carry over so all your time spent will be completely wasted.
you could return the game, and keep checking for updates, and by the time 343 finally brings a good update the game will be another 20$ cheaper! PROFIT
To respond to your OP - I understand your frustration hornblowerXI, while Im still level 55 with the LE, I can imagine it is discouraging to be stuck at level 70. I can assure you that the specializations should all be unlocked for everyone (despite whether they have played before or after the 20th) very soon. It was annonced that they would be unlocked for everyone early 2013. Keep an eye for this weeks bulliten as it may contain information regarding this issue. (I am not trying to suggest that it will, all I am saying is that I know TU info will not be in this weeks bulliten so i suspect it may address this issue)
Hopefully this helped a little bit, if you have any questions feel free to contact me as always.
