Capable Allies?

See that the Spartan IVs will be in the game, and most likely in the campaign, do you think they will actually be a capable force? What Im asking is that, do you think they will be able to conquer a map?
Or do you think they will just be prettied up ODSTs?

The only capable soldiers Ive seen in the Halo series so far have been Master Chief, Johnson, and the ODST squad in Halo ODST. They didnt die when I wasnt looking. They also didnt die from annoyingly avoidable deaths like the Spartan IIIs. Those guys were a joke.

Any clues on what the IVs will be doing in campaign? Should I grow attached or just consider them all fodder?

In gameplay, the spartan IV AI will probably be about as smart as a marine(maybe a bit smarter, with the ability to use AAs and such). I doubt they would prove to be much smarter, so their capabilities will probably depend on how smart the AI of halo 4 are. Perhaps they may do a bit more damage when using the S4 model, or have a higher fire rate, but I doubt their accuracy will be much better. They probably won’t be able to die either, or be very hard to kill.

However canonically, they would be almost as good as Chief(much better tech than him, however lacking extremely in experience by comparison. don’t forget luck). In cutscenes where they show up. I expect squads of 3-5 spartans to wipe out entire battalions of covenant. I doubt you will see even one dead Spartan 4 in halo IV, unless you were to kill one in-game yourself.

Canonically they’ll probably be pretty useful.

Gameplay-wise, no Halo developer has ever made useful friendly AI. Not even once.

Canon-wise he was badass.

Gameplay wise, his AI still sucked like all allied AI in Halo games but he was invincible and had an infinite ammo machine gun turret. Unless every ally in H4 has god mode, I don’t see them being any use.

Hopefully we wont have anything like Kat driving us off the cliff… Also the AI for Captain Keyes in CE, on that part where you have to protect him was a bit off. I mean that dude would just run in and get grenades to his head constantly. That part really drove me nuts.

I hope if they do any kind of protection based missions the AI is smart enough to at least make an attempt to evade.

They might be a little better. But really when you think about it they are volunteers who were previous soldiers. I think the S-II-SIIII will be the best ones, other than that I imagine they’ll just be a step above regular AI and 2 steps below MC.

I hate to say this but they’ll probably just be invincible like noble team. The best we can hope for is semi-invincibility like arbiter.

I don’t get it, why can they make good enemy AI, but only crappy allies AI?
