Cap at 81,000. Really?

I im now worried about this game, i like it and its population at peak hours is shrinking by 5,000 a day. That means the unique user population over 24 hrs will also be shrinking. Im sad this is happening.

It’s not really that bad for a Wednesday, kid.

It was better on a monday

Given that people have gotten over the initial hype of a new game, the game was released right before the holidays, people are now working and at school during peak hours of the day and that numerous games have come out since, this isn’t so weird.

Halo 3 didn’t have major competitors in the start because no games with similarly significant fanbases came out at the same time or within a month or two of it. 4 had a few of these in its own and other genres.

If you released Halo 3 about a month and a half before the winter Holidays, during which time a competitor released their own FPS and then looked at the player list a few weeks after people had settled back into their work routines, you’d see a similarly massive drop.

all this thread is is flamebait. More games are coming out and the pop is shrinking.

These forums are horrid enough as is, I could just imagine when GTA V comes out shivers

So? Business days are uncertain and will obviously lack of players from time to time because… oh, I don’t know, perhaps people have work to do? Jobs, school, appointments, most likely in your case lots of homework, etc.

Game populations fluctuate in all video games… People on this forum just can’t seem to grasp that.

Just wait until Destiny comes out

I’m not excited for that game, not after Bungie said “hey, remember The Fall of Reach? lol, yeah, our story is better!”, and retconned the whole thing. I just can’t take them seriously anymore, after all, they don’t for the fans, and with Halo: Reach, it shows.

yeah i agree with everyone else. OP doesn’t really know what he is taking about… no offence

Looks like your upset just because they retconned the book. That’s a minor issue. The entire game of Reach was made for us, the fans.

yeah i think reach was a work of passion IMO. a work of art for the fans. they clearly worked hard on it and it was really good despite all the complains about multiplayer.

The population is pathetic. This is not open for debate. No amount of fanboyism will change the numbers.

The moderators should lock threads like these. They’re obvious flame bait and don’t mean anything.

OP and others point out statistical facts that are directly relevant to the state of the game.

This guy calls it meaningless flame-bait.

Yup its really happening.

Because THEY’RE NOT directly relevant to the state of the game. People complained when it was 200,000, 150,000, 100,000 etc. They will never be happy. They just complain that the number is dropping and then use it as an argument to get what they want changed. It’s flame bait to try and get people riled up.

They don’t understand that there are a huge amount of variables for the population being what it is besides “the game is bad”.

Not only that but there has already been MULTIPLE threads on this topic. Why don’t you add it to those threads instead of creating another.

Its a solid point though, I dont understand how you can’t see that. If the majority of people playing Halo 4 liked it just the way it is, the player attrition rates would be much lower than they are now. The fact that the game is losing players is insignificant. Its the rate at which they are going thats the problem.

From 381k to 112k in 30 days. At that rate, the game won’t live for 6 months! Thats a pretty big red flag, to any thinking person that is. The “Vocal minority” is fast becoming the “complacent majority.” Because Halo is no longer a completely unique and competitive experience, it is fading into obscurity. The fact is, I have yet to hear anyone say the like what 343 has done to the series. (other than on the forums, for obvious reasons) The players are not just leaving, they are running! If you cant see how that is directly relevant to the state of the game, then there’s nothing anyone can do for you.

Just because the peak population (at whatever time they take the number) drops, doesn’t mean the unique user population has. Think of it like this…100 people sign off and 87 sign on. That means that while the current population dropped, the number of unique users went up.

Peak MM population =/= Overall game population

Actually, these things are measured by UU’s purposely to avoid that type of confusion.
