Just tried again as well and problem is still not resolved. also had posted in another thread that have downloaded halo channel app on windows 8.1 and having same issue. No play button…only add to queue or buy halo.
OK, make sure you scanned the IRQ code from the 5 X 5 nightfall card out of your halo box. that is what fixed it for me. Always read the instructions before proceeding and blaming the manufacturer.

I think this problem is more prominent with digital downloads, btw (me included)

Digital doesn’t get any codes 
I have a suggestion for 343i: just for the moment, make Nightfall Episode 1 available to all. When you fix the issue, make it be for MCC owners only. Because the Channel doesn’t think we own MCC, and (as you can imagine) that’s pretty annoying. Yes, a handful of people will get a free watch, but those who deserve to see it will see it. And honestly, giving out a free episode 1 should only make people more interested to see the rest and buy the MCC, no?
Point is: I know you’re under a lot of stress at the moment, because this has been a messy launch all around, but when can we get a fix?
This loop is driving me nuts it needs patching soon I thought that’s called PRODUCT TESTING

The loop is absoluteely the worst. It really is. I hope the fix will be part of the weekend update, because it’s really bumming me out that I can’t watch Nightfall. It’s one of the things I was really excited for in the MCC since I iwn all the games already (the onl really new experience is H2A).

Unfortunately nothing has changed except that the buttons changed to my lokal language instead of english. Btw, gramatically wrong. It should say “Halo kaufen” not “kaufen Halo”

Stop spreading your blasphemic logic here! Streaming a Pilot of a new series to a broad audience never has been successfull! My marketing 101 playbook from 1956 says it right here on page 12!

I got it to work by using the card that comes in your halo game case.
I bought MCC digitally and recently redownloaded and still get sent through a loop.
I’ve only seen episode 1 once and haven’t been able to watch it again or anyother episode.

Still cant watch any episodes! The only reason I saw episode one was because of Halofest…
If you bought the physical copy of MCC, there should be a code you need to redeem inside your box. It should work after you do that. If not, there are some additional steps the forums team posted here. You can also reinstall the Halo Channel app as well to see if that help. Do a hard reset of the console after uninstalling if you take that route.

I still can’t watch and i really wanna. It tells me to buy halo… and well, I paid about $60 after sales tax for the Master Chief Collection the day i bought my XBO. I have a feeling it has to do with the Halo Channel itself, so perhaps that needs to be looked at. Also, on another note, is it possible to give access to Spartan Ops… or do i already have access to the full Spartan Ops content through XBO? I’m lead to believe it was just for Halo 4 standalone…
Edit as of 5 minutes later: Found the code I didn’t know I had and entered it. Fix’d… but still want spartan Ops.
i have the digital version and still having problems with watching nightfall, still says ‘buy halo’. There needs to be a fix on the licensing of halo nightfall, or send out codes to specific gamer tags so that people can actually watch it.
Same problem here. I was able to watch Episode 1 weeks ago, but when 2 hit I tried and couldn’t view it. Suffice it to say when episode 3 came out the problem continued.
I was only moderately interested in watching the series but now I pretty much want to watch it out of spite as well as the principle of the matter. We purchased a product and were lead to believe that said purchase would unlock exclusive Halo content, ie a video series.
343 hasn’t delivered in this regard. I for one am more disappointed than angry. I expected more, and I hope that they realize that most of us still can’t watch the content they’re releasing. It’s the old conundrum: if a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it, does it still fall?
If Nightfall releases and no one watches it, did it ever release?
Please fix this, 343. We’ve been patient. You have our funds, and many of our pre-order dollars for Halo 5. You don’t owe us anything more than what you sold us.

I can confirm this works. I feel very very silly about not realizing this before, so use your codes and you should get Nightfall up and running.

I’ve used the activation code… Downloaded the halo nightfall and Still won’t let me watch it!!! Any suggestions?
I’d like to add that the deciding factor for buying an XBO over a PlayStation 4 was this collection. I’ve been with halo since og Xbox and quite frankly I’m disappointed greatly in how this release is going. I can’t watch what I’ve overpaid for, and i can’t use my turtle Beach headset even with the over priced adapter. I feel like I’ve been robbed or duped by the console I’ve been with for awhile now. I really hope you guys can make up for all of this "deceit " because at this point I may not get another Xbox ever again
