Can't Upload Halo 4 Maps to File Share (author)

Edit for context:

With maps being able to be ported from Halo 3, Halo: Reach & Halo 4 on August 26th (gametypes in 4 days on August 12th!), I was looking forward to getting all the Halo 4 maps I made onto my File Share in preparation for that. Unfortunately, I’ve ran into an issue preventing me from doing so. I haven’t found a workaround for it either, which is a bummer to say the least.

Here’s the issue:

All of my maps I made on Halo 4 were, at that time, created under my gamertag of “Faulkzor” (yes, a lame gamertag… Created due to having to change my gamertag…)
My gamertag now being “Faulk Smash”.

“Faulkzor” (then) & “Faulk Smash” (now) means that all of my maps from back then (gametypes, film clips, screenshots, etc) are all owned by “Faulkzor” and due to that, I get this error when attempting to upload them to my File Share: Gamer DVR - Xbox clips, Twitch clips and streams, Xbox screenshots, Xbox videos, Xbox DVR and more on Gamer DVR!

To workaround this, I’ve attempted to:

  • “Save as…” the map with my new account (in other Halo’s, this replaced the author with a new gamertag, meaning they now “own” that file) the map. The author didn’t change. - Loading the map up in Forge, making a change (deleting a cone, spawning a weapon) and saving the map (“Save as…”) in attempt to have the game recognize that it’s not just saving over a map (stealing) and ending it. The author didn’t change. - Playing the map so it adds to “Temporary files”, saving it from there, uploading it to File Share… Doesn’t work…Someone recommended that I make the gamertag “Faulkzor” and seeing if I can upload the files onto that File Share to essentially trick the system, but I haven’t tried that yet as I find it a bit ridiculous to do lol. Will do if there’s no other way though…

still follow your shared files? the only thing I can think of is that you make a new xbox live buy game pass account for a month (I hope you follow the $ 1 promotion in your country) so you can upload shared files to your new account. Now in that new account find your gamertag and download your shared files and upload them again but now being a different person. When the files are in MCC look for your alternative gamertag and download them to your original account … it is the only thing that occurs to me … I have uploaded all my types of games of different authors and I have not had any problem. I hope you can fix it. You have until August 26 to upload your maps. good luck

I don’t know what you mean by “Still follow your shared files”. If you’re asking if I have access to them then yes I do, as they’re downloaded and in my cloud saves (how I’m accessing them via Halo 4 back-compat).

So you’re saying:

  • Make a new account XBL account (gamertag doesn’t matter, aka not needing to be “Faulkzor”) - Use the $1 Game Pass promotion (and yes, we have it in Canada. I’ve been using it since it came out as it repeats itself quite often). - Look up the File Share of the account that has maps, download them, upload them to my new account’s File Share. - Wait until the 26th to grab them off my temporary gamertag’s File Share on MCC.Unfortunately I created a new account, bought the $1 Game Pass Ultimate deal and I get “You must have an Xbox LIVE Gold Membership to upload files to the File Share” as an error message… Fortunately, I have a 14-day trial code from forever ago that I haven’t used. When I redeem it, it says I can’t as the account already has Xbox LIVE Gold…

I’ve restarted my Xbox, only signed in on the new account (to see if I had to refresh for the changes to take effect) and nothing works.

Thanks for the suggestion regardless.

Edit: Just added 2 clips (one from each account, attempting to upload to File Share) for better understanding of what’s going on.

Your two accounts, Faulkzor and your alternate account, must have XBL G
1.- Upload your 25 or 24 maps (depending on the game) first to Faulkzor.
2.-In your alternative account, download all the maps you uploaded to faulkzor and upload them to the shared files of your alternative account.
3.- delete all your maps that you already loaded into your alternative account and upload the remaining maps in both accounts to your shared files.
I suspect that the XBL G tests do not allow you to upload the shared files just to play online. I recommend that you purchase an independent XBL G membership for each account
