so to unlock the mark vi you have to get the cairo station achievement. i got it and was expecting to just unlock them in the customization thing but its not there. is there a step i have missed?
No, but the armor has always been a bit buggy. There is no confirmed fix, but some players have gotten it after messing around in their MCC customization/service record menus. I’d say your best bet is to change some armors and look at your stats then try again. Let me know if it works I’m actually pretty curious. Best of luck to you.

Not necessarily. As long as you beat it on normal or above it will give you the achievement.

Does that mean if beat the Halo 5 campaign on normal or above I can receive the Halo 5 Mark VI armor set?

Nope. Beating the Halo 5 campaign doesn’t award you with anything.
