I purchased a Halo 5 Limited Edition Xbox One console yesterday which comes with a copy of the Limited Edition Halo 5: Guardians game, just like in the Halo 5: Guardians Limited Collectors Edition. I contacted Microsoft today to request to exchange my digital code for a physical disc copy of the game but I was denied the exchange. The representative explained that Microsoft was only given directive to do exchanges for individuals who purchased the Limited Collectors Edition rather than the Limited Edition console or Limited Edition game itslef. In the official exchange document posted it does not state that individuals who purchased the Limited Edition console can NOT participate in the exchange program. Also in the official exchange post it does not state that I must provide the representative with a scanned copy of my purchase receipt, which in my case the representative requested and I complied with his request. Had I not provided the representative with my receipt of purchase but instead with the basic necessary information (GamerTag, email address, digital download code, and mailing address) there shouldn’t have been anyway for him to identify that I hadn’t purchased the Limited Collectors Editon game but instead the Limited Edition console. I don’t quite understand what makes the Limited Collectors Edition “more special” than the Limited Edition console which can be considered a “collector’s” item as it is. After being denied my request I asked to be transferred to either a supervisor or given the contact information for 343 Industries directly so that I could contact them myself. I was told that no supervisors were available to assist me as the time and the representative then directed me here to the Halo Waypoint forums. I told him that I wanted a direct contact method but he could not provide me one. Rather than becoming argumentative with the representative I requested an incident case number and ended my chat sessipn with him. If anyone from 343 actually reads these forums and could please provide me with any additional information regarding this incident, it would be greatly appreciated. I’m sure I’m not the only one in this situation.

And considering that it comes with a steel case, whereas i think the other bundles don’t come with a steel case, but correct me if I’m wrong. So thats why the digital code to physical disc is exclusive to the collectors edition.
I kinda figured, which is why I said " -Yoink- it " and redeemed my code. I’ll buy a standard edition copy later down the road when it’s cheap for back up purposes.

The forza bundle was 400 for a special design and a voucher. Today i just paid 100 more to get basicly the Limited edition halo5 with my console, but i connot even have the real disc like the ‘regular’ Limited edition…

I got the exact same reply, as if they’ve been given the exact paragraph to tell us. I too don’t understand the logic in not being eligible for the hard copy disc with purchase of the limited edition console… make absolutely no sense. “given that the it’s the collectors edition, we feel that they deserve to have the physical copy as part of their collection” Oh? But the console I purchased solely for Halo 5 isn;t applicable? Who’s to say that the console isn’t a collectors item?
I agree that it doesn’t make sense for this to be the case, since the booklet containing the code from the LCE and the Console are the same.
A friend of mine mentioned that he heard that the whole reason for this disc swap program was the Microsoft accidentally advertised the LCE with a disc, and if that is true, it would explain why they only offered it for the LCE and not the Console; They are just trying to cover their butts from a false advertising lawsuit. If it really was about catering to fans, they’d let the Console people do it as well.

I have no doubt that you will continue to buy Halo games if their only fault is that you can’t exchange a digital code for a physical copy.
That should’ve been known. All Xbox one bundles come with digital, I cant exactly swap the digital copy of MCC I got with my white xbox for the physical. They did explicitly say that the trade-in was the LCE only due to the backlash of a collector edition coming with a digital copy.
OK now i’ am worried because i was able to swap my code for a physical disc and i bought the halo 5 console as well. But that was this pass Tuesday 20. i got a call from Xbox support the fallowing day that they needed to fortify my account to continue the process. i gave them the info they wanted and was told everything was in order and i should be getting the same soon. but befor i ever attempted to swap the code for a disc i asked the xbox support that i bought the bundle and not the collectors edition and he said that was no problem as long as i did not pre-ordered the game in digital format or have redeemed the code that came with the console. as of now my order is in progress, when and how were you notified that you could not swap your code for a physical disc?

Are you being serious? Do you think that is even remotely possible? Do you think it’s just stored in some folder on a desktop PC at Microsoft HQ and some how just gets deleted?
There are backups, redundancies. It’s so unlikely that my record of buying the game would be permanantly deleted, and if it was, more than likely Microsoft would take the steps to make it right. I’ve experienced nothing but goodwill from Microsoft’s customer support.
It’s more likely that someone will break into your home, steal your physical copy than my digital license being lost or deleted.

Also, what prompted your completely ill-thought out response to my response?
It was never said anywhere not even once that the console edition was eligible for trade in. In fact in the official press document it specifically states “Limited Collectors Edition” in the first stanza.

And the reason i hate digital… it’s just like buying air.
My friend had a case with his Guitar hero song, you see, he bought some (a lot) on the store.
when he stopped playing, he decided to delete them from his hard drive to save space.
Few months ago he had an idea to play back, and when he went to download his song back boom! not possible anymore…
so basicly i just don’t ever want to live something like this with a game i paid full price (wich could bring the debat about the price on digital… but hey let’s not get into that )
Had the same response from Microsoft. So you know what I did? I decided I would ignore it, follow the process they explained for the Collector’s Edition version of Halo 5, and didn’t say a word about what copy I had. I simply stated I wanted to switch my digital copy for a physical copy, and my process was as easy as it should’ve been.
Know what that tells me? They don’t have unique codes and your console code is the same as the collector’s edition code. I’m just praying my physical disc comes before Tuesday or I’m going to scream.
I think this works…just picked up my Halo 5 SE Console and chatted with Xbox customer service. I didn’t mention that it was the one that came with the game and they’re sending me my disc in 3-5 days. Sucks that I have to wait…but happy that now I can sell once I’m done with the game…if ever!!!
I am getting a physical copy and I want to trade someone for a digital. Personally like digital. Hope I can find someone who is buying the collectors edition during release when i buy with the same problem and switch
Well hears my deal, i got the Limited Collectors Edition, made the trade with Microsoft chat. and now its Monday and i did not get the game yet!! So that means that best case scenario is the disk comes tomorrow, (my mail runs at noon), then i get it installed and can hopefully play by 1 or 2 pm rather than midnight on release!
I am pissed about the whole thing, but this is too much. If i would have known i wouldn’t even get the game in time for launch, i would have just returned the LCE and got a regular copy.
Im pissed, I gave them my code the day I got my console Tuesday 20, and it still hasn’t gotten here yet. I get that it takes a while and all but thats why I gave it to them a week in advance so I could still play it on launch. This stupid code **** obviously didnt work if everyone is just trading it in for a hard disk. They better not do this again.
