I am not sure if its an audio issue or a visual one. When I am getting shot in the back it takes a long time for me to realize it sometimes even with the visual cue. There are times even where someone is shooting me with a BR right in front of me and I cant even tell that he is shooting or how much damage he is doing to me without just staring at my health bar. Which is not good in a gunfight.
Visual and audio feedback is a little buggy, but I have the most problems with the audio. I have a very hard time picking up footsteps like I should be able to.
I have this exact same feeling. I turned off vibration (mainly to save controller batteries) but even in previous Halo games I also knew and could ‘feel’ when I was getting shot at and was going to die. In Infinite, whenever I die I’m always surprised as there’s just no proper indiction as to what’s happening around you.
I don’t really know how to describe it properly. I think it’s partly audio, and partly visual like flinch and HUD colour / indicators. It’s a problem for sure.
Yeah, also can’t tell what level an enemies shield is at. Never had this trouble in older Halo games. The shield had degrees of damage as it would inflate before it busts. Now there’s some barely noticeable electricity effects that spark off the enemy player regardless of shield strength. It boggled the mind.
I turned vibration on thinking that would help, it doesn’t really. If you shoot at the same time you cant tell between what is your gun fire vibration and enemy fire.
Probably audio settings. Taking 1 shot from someone I usually hear my spartan grunting from taking damage, and on my screen it shows a red ring (like half circle) from the direction I took the damage.
I went into my audio settings and disabled dynamic audio…iirc…whatever the option was to have quiet sounds quieter and louder sounds louder, I turned that off because I couldn’t hear foot steps and the sounds were all muffled as hell.
For anyone having trouble in general when it comes comes noticing enemy sheild health, going from social where you have grenade hit markers to ranked where there is none, a few useful tips.
Hit markers gone- just like in old halo games. If you threw a grenade and hit someone, you wouldn’t get a hit marker but instead you’d hear the audio of the enemy Spartans shield burst and a grunt. The same can be said about halo infinite.
Shield health - I only listen for the audio que. There’s a VERY distinct sound when you break enemy shields. If you can’t hear it, you need to adjust some audio settings. I use headphones and have no idea how easy or hard it is to hear without them, but the audio que for me is very clear and easy to hear.
