I’m a very good halo player, I almost always have a high positive K/D ratio. I love Halo but Halo: Reach has the tendency to piss me off like no other online shooter, with Assists. I swear I will drop a guys shields and about to end his miserable life when some freaking little noob comes along and is like “oh! a free kill!” gaaahhh! I played a game yesterday with like 12 assists and I got an assist spree. That’s just wrong! Halo isn’t about skill anymore its about stealing kills that weren’t yours. I understand that a kill steal will happen every now and again, but 12 in the same game. There’s something wrong here…
That happens in every online shooter out there, the Assist Medal just makes it more obvious.
Yeah, I think they just shouldent show it in game cause it makes me very frusturated to see it pop up especialy when I’ve been working at killing a guy and my kill just flys off into the sun set.

To me it sounds like being a good team player. Your personal stats do not matter unless its free for all. If it is a team game then all that matters is getting the win. If that means you assist your team 12 times to help win than thats all that matters.
assists are for agressive players, kills are for clinical players.
Assists are worth more than a plain kill anyway.
Assists are going to happen in any game whether you like it or not. The assist medal is really nice because it lets you know that the person you were shooting at died. Sometimes they run away and you chase them without knowing a teammate finished them off. That happened to me a lot in Halo 3.
> Assists are worth more than a plain kill anyway.
I’m pretty sure they are worth the same, actually. Unless they changed it.

Firstly don’t bring up your K/D ratio, Halo is a team game so that stat means nothing at all. Secondly assists are going to happen and frankly an assist is way better than dieing and having the person you were fighting get away. Also in previous Halo games assists happened way more often but they weren’t medals, the average amount of assists I got in H3 per game was like 27. That means that I was a very crucial team player, I accounted for my kills and all of those assisted kills as well. There is nothing wrong with being a support player either, if you got 12 assists, 8 kills, and went -5 in a game of team slayer and your team won 50-23 then you did very well. Also Halo Reach is absolutely just about team shooting and when that happens one person will get a kill and another will get an assist. If 12 assists is the most you have ever got in one game then you need to work on your team communication and stop worrying about your K/D. If you don’t want assists then don’t play Halo.

Nolan, I’ll be short and blatant with you. Don’t say the things you are saying in your post. Don’t call yourself very good unless you are, and don’t complain about getting an assist. I don’t hate having kills taken from me as much as the next guy, but if I’m playing for the win I’m just happy my teammates were good enough to be aware of their surroundings and help me.
Playing support is a vital role to any team, even if you just play casually.
I’m surprised that you’re able to get that many assists in Reach. All my games end up like 18 kills/ 4 assists/ 11 deaths. I think I’ve only gotten over 10 assists a handful of times. In H3 it was common place to get a large amount of assists.
I’d have more kills, if I had less assists. Huh huh huh.
I’m a really good player. My K/D is awesome. In fact, I am just plain awesome. Everything about me is awesome!
Oh, Assists are awesome too. Reminds me I’m the reason my team is awesome. 'Cause I’m awesome.
Everyone here is awesome too. Apart from you. You’re selfish and not a team-player.
Wah.

Yeah your right, I’m not a team player. Does that make me selfish, No. Does that make me any less awesome then you, no. Just because I prefer the lone-wolf style of play does not make me any less then what you are. I like to have Kills be greater then my assits, and thats fine . So no. I’m not selfish, I just play the game diffrently then you.

I’m calling myself good, because I am actually good, weather my stats reflect that or not. But yes, I don’t mind getting a teammate to help me on a guy or two it’s when I have a situation under control and a teammate just waits with his DMR to take the headshot, thats irritating! no matter how you look at it.
I’m a good player, my K/D stinks because the first month I played I stunk like hell. But I enjoy Assists, I actually gave my friend a Second Gunman medal in one Wave. He was pissed.
Personally I feel theres no such thing as kill stealing in team games - basically, if you get the chance to put an enemy down, JUST DO IT. Its every male and female spartans for themselves.

Well, this isn’t personal and there is no harm intended, I don’t say someone is good unless they have some mainstage points in their Halo career. That is what is good to me.
Getting back to one of your points- stats are a very good indication of skill and bad stats do reflect poor gameplay, but I don’t want to get into that as I don’t feel as it is appropriate towards the point .Now we move to the point… Point being that in the situation you describe as the person waiting just to steal kills I would have to agree that is ridiculous, but I have never once seen that in any Halo game(Sometimes there are people who goof off, but no one, realistically or legitimately, plays like this.). That is even more truthfully apparent in games where all players are high in skill.
Assists are fine.

haha well I think I’m good I’m an overall 76 with a 1.37 K/D so I am good, must people are 50 and below. But theres no doubt in my mind that your a better player you have a 2.0 k/d and a 100 rank, which is amazing. But yeah, I don’t know the assists just bug me. I like to be the guy with the points, not the support medals thats why I play slayer, to slay people hahaha. But yeah, assists just seem way more apparent and seem to occur in Halo more so then any other shooters, I’ve played. But whatever Halo still has the best multiplayer.
Oh trust me, Halo’s assist system is 100000000x better than Gears of War.
The saddest thing about it is the developers have publicly stated that, “Stealing kills isn’t really an issue!”. Too bad every single person I’ve talked to about it on forums/in person HATES that you don’t get the kill after you Down someone if someone else finishes them.
Halo’s Assist system could use a tweak though… less damage required for an Assist. Like 2 shots from a DMR (Is it at that already? Not sure).
