Can't Stand Palmer.

Ever since I first watched the Spartan Ops trailer where she says “Ladies…and other Spartans” I couldn’t stand her. Being familiar with Spartan II’s (the true Spartans), and seeing how tightly knit Spartan II’s are and how each other are the only family they’ve ever had, it’s just weird hearing a Spartan talk with a cadence that says she’s better than the rest.

Then during Bravo’s video showing the Infinity intro, she says to all Spartan IV’s: “You’re the best there ever was, and the best there ever will be”. I guess she’s not familiar with the Spartan II program. It’s just a little insulting. Maybe her character is supposed to make us feel this way. I’m not sure, but I am going to melee her right in the head the first chance I get haha.

Anyone else feel this way?

So you dislike Palmer’s bias yet you yourself use bias when saying the Spartan-IIs are the “true” Spartans. They are simply a generation of Spartans like the ORION members, IIIs and now IVs.

And really, so what if she says “You are the best there ever was and the best there ever will be?” That kind of talk is common throughout world militaries and their respective branches. The Marines and Army always get on each others cases, yet when the time comes they put aside their rivalry and get the job done.

So no, I don’t agree with you.

Its a joke. She’s not trying to belittle anyone or claim she is better.

I suppose you are unfamiliar with the concept of a moral boosting speech?

Really? I kind of like her. She’s no spartan-II, but she’ll do.

“They believe this is the home of one of their gods. If those freaks want to meet god, it’s our duty to help them along!” - I loved this line. Maybe it was the music in the background, maybe it was the scene of the Infinity splatter that covenant ship or maybe it was Jennifer Hale’s excellent voice acting (Probably all three), but I thought she sounded pretty great.

Where does she say “Ladies… and other Spartans?” I’ve not seen that one (if it’s the official spartan ops season 1 trailer)… I recall her only talking about how the “old hands” know what they’ll be facing.

As for the second part, thunderingquiet didn’t you get the memo? Before going into ANY high risk area, you clearly are supposed to belittle and degrade your soldiers by pointing out how much they suck/where they suck most at.

I can’t find the high quality version I saw earlier, but this should be good enough.

Clicky

I’ll have to disagree with you. She is more like a counterpart or a compliment to Sgt. Johnson’s character. The Haloverse needs someone to replace his role. I think she will be perfect for that

Oh dear God, please smite the good Commander for bringing in some humor and wit into an otherwise stuffy military setting.

she looks like my sis (Palmer) , so yeah even I’m gonna riflebutt her the first chance I get … for the lulz ofcourse…
But I don’t agree with you. How would you feel if your CO keeps praising a previous batch of Spartans or soldiers and Hail them as the ‘greatest ever’ obvious to the fact that you may have potential , and you can be the greatest , but they still praise the previous batch in a negative way, belittling your own morale?
That’s exactly what Palmer is NOT trying to do. You need to remember that the Spartan IVs are volunteers from different of the military and hence may have become equal to the previous generation of Spartan IIs with advanced forerunner tech and awesome Gen-2 armor at their disposal. So maybe she is right afterall…
and the ‘Ladies and other Spartans dialogue’ might just be a funny entre to ease up the new recruits…

Since she is a Spartan-IV she probably isn’t that familiar with previous iterations of the program, also she was probably a marine until recently, or an ODST. She speaks the way she does to motivate and empower her troops, make them feel like they’re the most badass soldiers this side of the Milky way. I admire her, she seems like a good leader.

If those freaks want to meet God then its our duty to help them along! -Palmer
New favorite quote.

I loved her ever since I heard Jennifer Hale’s voice.

No. All of the spartans are ‘true spartans’ they just are of a different generation.

I think she’ll be a great character. A new Johnson.

We need the humor sometimes, and she is just being a Commander, giving her soldiers a pep-talk.

This, she is essentially just the female version of Johnson.

Well Sarge WAS supposed to get a woman in Halo 4…Shame he didn’t make it :\

> Well Sarge WAS supposed to get a woman in Halo 4…Shame he didn’t make it :\

He got a woman version of himself. Good enough for me.

I imagine she encounters chief, how she reacts there will tell me if I like her or not. If she tries to act hard to chief I won’t like that to much but if she’s just talking and acting like that to lead her fellow Spartans that’s fine

you guise…you guise

you guise shall not compare Sgt.Johnson to Cmdr.Palmer!!

plix pl0x pliXxy pl0x or I r gonz t33ch u les0n

I don’t really like her either, mainly because of the “I thought he’d be taller” line coming out of her in respect to the Chief. I understand, she’s got an elitist attitude, likely believing her and her ilk to be greater than a previous generation like John, and I equally understand that she’ll likely grow a deeper respect for him by the time Halo 4 ends.

I just have a feeling it’s gonna be a long road…

I thought you’d be taller” is an old joke.
