Can't sprint while being shot -_-

I’m sure this topic has been discussed to death but I wasn’t able to find any recent threads on it so here goes

Not being able to sprint while being shot is just plain stupid! Sprinting was already a controversial inclusion to begin with, but then, to top it all off, you render it completely useless WHEN YOU MOST NEED IT?? I mean c’mon, if you’re gonna include a controversial ability, at least do it well!

I imagine it would be really annoying if your enemies just sprinted to safety every time you caught them off guard.

If I remember correctly enacting the sprint mechanic while being fired on simply prevents it from reaching max velocity which brings up those bracket emblems, allows you to slide, and perform spartan charges, but you’re still technically “sprinting”. It’s not like Halo 4 where you’d essentially be shot out of the mechanic.

I’m not sure if that’s correct or not. i can’t think about my experience when playing last night compared to when I first started playing Halo 5 a few years back, but I was always knocked out of sprint after getting shot. Reason being is because I have to press the sprint button again to start it up because even if I only get shot that one time, I won’t start sprinting again until I press the sprint button. I’m going to check again tonight after work to see if it’s changed but ever since me noticing that I don’t really pay much attention to it anymore so can’t tell if I noticed any difference or not.

That’s not a good argument. People will always try to evade when being shot at, that’s a given.

I don’t think that is correct. I distinctly remember slowing waaaay down while I was already in full sprint. Here’s what happened: I was in full sprint, trying to catch up to my squad, I started taking Carbine fire, and that slowed me waaaay down. It feels like you suddenly hit a patch of quicksand, or like someone has lassoed you. It’s ridiculous and makes these Spartans look like noobs dumbfounded when taking fire for the first time ever.

I think it’s just a very cheap attempt to balance out the sprint ability. Sprint isn’t that fast to begin with, it doesn’t need to be slowed down further. Especially not when you’re being shot at. 343i You’re basically breaking the ability you included in your own game.

I just wish my Spartan could turn around while being shot from behind.

I feel like I time traveled back to 2015 reading this thread. You don’t slow down when you’re in full sprint. The only time you can’t sprint is if you’re not already at full speed while getting shot at. What likely happened is the carbine fire disoriented you with all its purty colors, you slowed down out of full sprint on your own and then you couldn’t sprint anymore since you weren’t going full speed while getting shot at. Not being able to sprint when you’re not at full speed was essentially a nerf to sprint to try and make it harder for people to escape battles which is a good thing.

I believe thats intentional to balance the sprint. Or else it would become a big game of hide & seek.

I think it’s good that you can’t sprint while being shot at. You can’t run from every gunfight. Just turn around and give it your best.

I don’t know what you mean by multiple posts in a row

> I’m pretty sure I slowed down after already being in sprint, but I’ll test it to be sure. And I actually just started playing again after stopping in 2015 lol. So it feels like I’m still in 2015 as far as Halo goes

Making starting sprinting impossible while getting shot and being slower down unless you are already at full Sprint Steve just balancing mechanics to make Sprint not OP. Think of it like scoping, it gives you a clearer picture on target and increases effective range, but in order to make it not OP you get descoped when shot.

I mean the act of posting several times in succession, where you could instead edit each reply into a single post. Pleasedo that in future, thanks
