I like to create my own maps but when I pause and press “save as”, it just saves and doesn’t give me the option to give it a name or description so it will save but be named “Forge Islands” for example. I know I’m not doing anything wrong because I made a map a couple weeks ago (before the update) and it worked. I already tried saving it when selecting your map (where you would go to delete it) and it simply copied the map with the same name.
I have the same problem with H2A Forge. So annoying! This is a major fail 343…
I’ve been having the same problem. Every map I make I’m Halo 4 it won’t allow me to name the map. Now I can’t tell which map is which, and it’s not only forge world, but the rest of them, too. I have one map that I named, but then it stopped letting me name them. Please offer a fix if anyone has found one, and if there is none, I hope it’s fixed in a future update.

I Haven’t used MCC’s Forge in a while, but it seems that the problem is still there? Damn, that sucks…
I wouldn’t expect a fix honestly.
Same here I like to forge but cant organize my maps by name. That would make for a long wait to play custom games til i found the right map.
343, if any one of you read these or look at them, you need to realize that you are tampering with a game that defines the Xbox. I have swore my allegiance to Xbox purely because of this one game, and it’s the only reason I don’t have a PS of any kind. This game (meaning all aspects of the halo universe) is the only game I have played over and over in such close proximity to finishing each game. No matter how many times I beat each halo game (excluding halo 4, halo wars 1&2, and sometimes halo 5) it doesn’t get old. It’s fun. This particular game, this “GOD” among console and computer entertainment is the very reason most people began gaming (my self included). Halo has such devout fans and like a parent raising a child, we have grown with this game. Watched it, with the utmost ease, out do and out perform any game before, during and after it’s time. So we rightly just want what’s best for our Halo games. If you want something or to go somewhere for inspiration to continue making Halo games, look back at the original 3 and what made them, still to this day in my opinion, unrivaled juggernauts in the gaming industry. Halo holds a very personal spot with me. Without this game in my sometimes seriously screwed up childhood, I wouldn’t be the man i am today and all of us Halo fans has a very emotional, intimate, and devout relationship with this game. Think about this. Halo is the only new gen game I know that has stood the test of time, no matter what was opposing it or the flaws it had. It keeps coming back, and each time it keeps its devoted fans excited and ready for the next fight. Look to the real world also, Halo has become more than just a game or a character. It was and still is the epitome of what fun in a gaming platform is supposed to be. Master Chief and his universe is second only to Mario in his spread across all forms of life. That’s the point. We as fans want to see this universe ( with Master Chief in it) continue to expand and grow. I know that everything eventually meets an end, but all to often many people, places, and things meet an end that came all to soon. Besides that’s the point of fantasy, anything can happen or continue no matter how insane the story and their plots may be. It’s because of this limitless and boundless way of story telling that makes fantasy so fun. I like what’s real and stuff, but occasionally, I don’t mind pretending to be the most celebrated and badass space marine ever either. Story telling is only limited by the walls we allow in our imagination. As a mechanic I like doing the job right the first time and the mistakes I do make I learn from them. Don’t mess up Halo anymore. Master Chiefs fight isn’t over. He’s “Just getting started”.
Yeah I also had this issue. I only made one map variant, so I think I was able to go into the file browser and use the rename feature to give my one variant a new name. HIGHLY annoying workaround though. 343i, please fix ASAP!!
I didn’t have this issue up until now. Only happens on Halo Reach maps. This is odd, and really frustrating.
Hello there everyone,
I have two possible fixes.
- If you rename a saved map but continue to edit and save it, the name will revert back to the original name you set.
Only overwrite map names after they are completed.
As for the inability to ‘save as’, you’ll have to get a friend to come into your map. You’ll exit, and be reinvited. Try to save as then, or have them save as a new map. Have them reload the map that they’ve saved, and you can do a save as from their version.
- Save your Forge Map as a New Map not as a existing file.
Hope this helps,
Happy Gaming!

Excellent! Worked like a charm. Really happy the forums are still active like this.
