So I downloaded Crimson for free while you still could on my roommates Xbox at school. I just came home today and re-downloaded it through my recent downloads.At the Halo 4 menu, it says “Unable to Validate. Please make sure you are connected to Xbox LIVE and have the War Games Pass downloaded.”
Any tips? Has anyone else gotten this?

Yeah I saw that. It said we’d be able to play till the 18th. And no one else has posted about the problem… sooo

It’s not a rumor.
There is a 14 day trial going on right now that lets players download Crimson for free. Once that is over, they have to buy the points or the War Games Map pass to play on the maps.
It hasn’t been 14 days however. The OP is experiencing something else i think.
