Just got Halo MCC for pc. Played Reach and Halo Ce No problem. Now on Halo 2 anniversary I can’t seem to pick up the battle rifle. I picked it up at the armory at the start of the game but as soon as I get near another weapon the game switches out the battle rifle for the new weapon. Then I can’t even find the battle rifle on the ground! I go back to the armory to get another battle rifle but the game won’t allow me to pick up a new one. I press and hold the “E” button but nothing happens. Can’t do dual wield either .I have updated my Windows 10 OS, reinstalled the game–nothing. From what I understand this is the best weapon in the game. It’s not even worth playing at this point. .Any fresh ideas would be appreciated.

You’re not going to play because you can’t use one specific weapon? O…kay.
Regarding your problem, I think I can help. When you picked up the Battle Rifle, you only had one weapon since you spawn with none on the first mission. So, when you went near a different one, it picked it up automatically. All this did was switch your weapon from the Battle Rifle to whichever one you picked up. You didn’t lose it, which is why you couldn’t get a new one or see it dropped on the ground. You can switch weapons using the TAB button if you are using default Halo 2 PC controls ( I think). Yeah… Um, that happens in Halo 2 when you pick up a weapon.
If you only have 1 weapon, it will automatically pick up a second one if you go near it. You can’t find your battle rifle on the ground, because you never dropped it. You can’t pick up a new battle rifle because you are already holding one. switch to your secondary weapon.
