Can't launch HW2 on PC?

I’m having an issue launching Halo Wars 2 on PC… Every time I try to launch the game from the Xbox app, it launches some small window named “Halo” that’s just blank with a blue-ish background and a grey bar down the left side. I’m not sure if it’s trying to launch the old Halo Channel or something instead… I get the same window when I try to launch Halo Wars: Definitive Edition on PC.

I’ve tried reinstalling several times to various drives. Currently on a Windows 11 PC with Ryzen R9 5900X, RTX 2080, 32GB DDR4 3600MHz, and a 2TB WD Black M.2 NVMe in PCIe 4.0… shouldn’t be having any issues, unless this is a Windows 11 compatibility problem, which is certainly a possibility.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found the solution… by uninstalling the “Halo” app, it fixes the problem and the game loads up correctly. Ideally it would be great for 343 to put a fix out there for this.

For those who don’t quit understand that. Go to your windows menu > settings > Apps > Apps and Features > then search “Halo”. If you see an app called just “Halo”, delete the trik. Halo Wars should run now. I tried finding that app other ways but didn’t see if until I looked it up that way.

Hi,

I had this same exact problem with Halo Wars 2. After reading about ten post on Microsoft Answer’s of wrong information, I arrived at your post. This is the solution that worked for me. Thank you.
