Sending/accepting invites to no availl. I send invites and my friends will accept but it will still always say my game session 1/16. Tried everything… I understand the matchmaking issues but not being able to party up?
I’m having the same issue. What’s funny is that it actually acts like the person is linked up with me; it says I can “kick” player and it doesn’t let me invite them again (Xbox reads it as they “already joined the game”).
Identical issue here.
My two friends and I are on TWC in Charlotte area, and another friend is Washington State.
We can’t party up, but after accepting game invites, we have the option to “kick” each other as if we’re grouped.
Same problem here. Having issues joining people. Sometimes someone joins and the party says they are in my game, but in-game they are not. Also sometimes it doesn’t even show any friends online in-game even though they are.
Same here.
This is to help you guys with the frustration.
- You cannot join another players game when you are in a party.
- If you are in a party (private chat) you must hit the home button, click start on the party app and click on quit. Do the same thing with the game. This is a very important thing you will want to do in order not to start the console over.
- When you both get back in the game, have one of you try to scroll over the other player’s name on the roster, and click on join. If that is grayed out, have the other person invite you and then join the game.
- Wait a few seconds and there you go, it miraculously works.
If you don’t find a match (you probably won’t) and you try to back out of the game, you both will be split after a few seconds.
If that happens then repeat the join process.
Good luck with this ridiculous problem where friends can’t even join your game in a game that is known for its mutliplayer. I understand problems on release, but this is unacceptable.
Xbl is down thats why
same mate its hit and miss with everything
Same problems here after the updates have gone out, both players have open NAT types no reason for this to happen, any word on the specific issue bungie?
there are no updates yet mate patience

I’m having the same issue
And my friend and I can’t play together! The same problems already mentioned above…
Same with me can’t play with friends
-
Open NAT via Port Forwarding w/ a static ip. Google it.
-
Don’t use party chat. It seems to work as long as everybody in the party has an Open NAT, but thats hard to guarentee and frequently people think they have an open NAT, but they actually do not so dont just take them at their word!
-
If you are searching together, then the party gets split during the matchmaking process, restart the game. (Dashboard > Highlight MCC > Menu Button on controller > Quit)
-
Do NOT accept an invite while in the middle of a match. Wait until the match is over, then back out to the Campaign menu, then go back to the multiplayer menu and use the Roster to join.

I seriously cant help but laugh when I see all the work around processes involved in playing this game. The information is appreciated but still, wow. Especially the highlighted part.
Two Matchmaking Games in one hour and that’s been about par. No problems in custom games minus the same chatting problems that have been supposedly fixed: NOT. The games we got into are still buggy and laggy. Kicking people. Weapons disappearing. Achievements won’t unlock. THIS IS JUST PLAIN RIDICULOUS. It has been 100 days!!! You have had 100 days to fix this game, a ton of days before that to actually test the game, and you can’t/didn’t do that!!!
Stop spending so much time on Halo 5 because it’s only a direct copy of Destiny and COD combined. It’s garbage. Try fixing some games that were actually good. I don’t see how you don’t put in more time because if this is the result for games that have already been released, what makes you think that anyone would want to buy a new game from 343. This is utter garbage. I have religiously played Halo, Halo 2, and Halo 3 for years and I cannot do it anymore even though that was what was promised.
I pulled my preorder on Halo 5 and I will not be buying it unless this game is what was promised to me. As far as I’m concerned, you stole $60 from me, because I can’t play even half the game as was advertised. I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD SEE THIS! I have never had much to complain about with the Halo series but that just takes the cake. You need to give the franchise back to Bungie for free. You won’t make any money off of it. You might have to pay them to take it back after what you’ve done to the good name of the Halo Series. Either that or fire everyone and start with some competent individuals that know how to make a video game and actually like Halo.
I DON’T CARE WHO’S FAULT IT IS!!! I DON’T CARE ABOUT FREEBIES!!!
JUST FIX THE GAME!!!
This still happens on occasion. I’ll send a game invite and the person ‘joins’ because it says I can kick 'em but they aren’t there (hard reset and it’s ok). It appears that it happens after an internet disconnect or if the Xbox is idle for a long period of time. And alot of times it’ll still hang up in trying to find a game until I hard reset. And, not the place for this, but why on earth can’t you party up with recent players? And please, please cut the music or at least make it an option where people can either play or not play the music…
I suppose this has still not been figured out because I’ve spent the last 3 hours trying to join a friend (in another state) that I used to LAN with back in the days of halo 1.
I am kind of shocked that this game ever made it to market. Please fix this issue.
The he whole point of multiplayer is te networking aspect-without being able to join a friend…I mean literally just join friend…what is the point of multiplayer?
ive restarted the machine several times. Sometime I am able to join but then we go to matchmaking and no games come up
I literally only bought this xbox one to play halo 1 online. I cannot see my self purchasing halo 5 or any other games in this franchise.
Thw he worst part is there does not seem to be a way to contact the guys that made the game or keep track of it/generate updates. We have no way of knowing if anyone is working on this or if it will at some point function.
Hey guys looking for people to add on xbox who likes role-playing add my gamertag R3D DEAD FR3AK
