Can't Join Friends

Like the title says, I can’t join up with friends on MCC Collection but it can’t be a connection problem between us as we can join in Halo 5. Pls help!

“Connection failed. Your connection to the game session has failed. Please try again.”

We have tried again several times, we have tried clicking on ‘join’ and sending invites.

Nothing works - we always get the same message.

We can match up with random people in Matchmaking fine…just not each other, when we’re less than 3KM away.

Ideas?

Oh - and we’re also in the same party, but we can’t join each other in MCC?..

Are they having problems joining each other? Do you know if you have an open NAT? Is it a host issue?

We can join each other in every other multiplayer game we have, both 360 and Xbox One - but just not on MCC. It most certainly isn’t a NAT or hosting issue, otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to join each other on anything else. The only game this issue has ever cropped up in is in MCC. We’re both in Australia, we’re both in the same city, and we live less than 3KM away from each other, and we both have NBN.

Since we can’t join each other normally, we decided to try matching up with each other randomly in matchmaking. This actually worked. We managed to connect with each other in Team Slayer despite all odds.

We still can’t join each other in MCC via any other method than matching up randomly.

We have tried quitting the game, taking the disk out and putting it back in, hard-resetting our Xbox One~~, and joining each other in a custom game while it is in progress (for some reason we can’t actually do this), **but we just can’t join each other in MCC.**For what it’s worth, though, my NAT might not be open…and neither is my friend’s, at least not on his 360.~~
Whatever I try to do to open my NAT, it never stays open for long, but that doesn’t seem to be the root issue here.
On hosting: I have tried joining my friend as many times as he has tried joining me, and neither works. Either of us can host the game just fine on Halo 5 or any multiplayer 360 game, but we can’t even join each other on MCC.
I have absolutely no idea what the issue is, and this has been going on for 3-4 days now. We could join each other last year and earlier this year in MCC, but after a half-year break, it no longer seems to be possible.

What about in a custom game lobby?

That didn’t work either, but we were finally able to join each other today.

Pretty weird man. Hopefully it’ll continue to work! Probably some sort of networking issue.
