Can't help but feel like much - if not most - of the hate and anger is just people failing (or refusing) to understand what Free-to-Play meant/means and just assuming things

It kinda feels like Microsoft is just trying to purposely sabotage the Halo franchise to kinda more easily push it aside to make room for the newer IP.

They can only do Halo so much, but with Bathesda they can do newer stuff

But in Microsoft, 343 has almost the highest budget, and when they can’t meet the deadline, there are other studios to help, and Joseph’s return.
The studios that are sent to do somatosensory games can say that about Microsoft.
But there is really no reason for 343 .
Their number, budget and qualifications are all top. The only explanation is that their core middle and senior managers are toxic or their corporate culture is toxic.
What’s struck me most about 343 over the years is the pile of tepid novel peripheries and bad stories they’ve shoved at us that no other studio has ever had the authority to do.
But now with Bethesda, I think they have to worry about their place at Microsoft for the first time.

I would drop some real coin on this game if it were working properly and the prices were at least reasonable.

But all the bugs and glitches and problems, on top of the lack of content, on top of the lackluster battle pass, on top of the outrageous prices in the store are just too much. The game is in a really sad state right now.

Did you ever play Reach? Remember how you could wear your armor in the campaign? That game was the first game where I actually really spent some time trying to make my armor look good.

It is entirely possible to make an overall progression system work while leaving room for new content, it just takes creativity.

Bottom line is that I spent the same amount of money on this game that I did on all the other games since Halo 3 and I got significantly less content for my money.

Yea they for sure are not Microsoft’s Golden Child. But it really depends on who made the key decisions to go ahead with all the things in terms of microtransactions and story telling…

If Microsoft was to blame.for the way they did the store that’s on them and they can’t hold that against 343.

But honestly I kinda wish they were transparent with whom made these choices like who was it who decided to sell players default colors and not integrate them into a unlockable grind with each Core/weapon/vehicle.

Such a missed opportunity, or why they didn’t just copy Reach’s Progression.

It’s like they went with this Battlepass, it didn’t learn from other Battlepass games, like COD kept their progression with prestige and the Battlepass was just a other layer.

343 just stripped everything out didn’t layer newer stuff on top of exist methods that the community already liked.

They seriously just had to copy Halo Reach exact progression system. And we would have Al been happy

Well put. I just made a few of the same points in another thread.

You and me must have played completely different games. Warframe is top tier of F2P and again unlike Halo EVERYTHING CAN BE EARNED FOR FREE! If you don’t like warframe, fine but it’s F2P model is so much better than Halo will ever be.

Typically, “Free-to-play” means “unfinished” and bugs, “poor customer satisfaction”, “lack of content”, “high prices for little return”, and ads ads ads. (atleast there are no ads)

This is ALL the reason to criticize the game.

Free to play does not mean -Yoink!- attempt at a game… With halo there are expectations like FORGE, GRIFFBALL!

Nah, it was Warframe. Take your blinders off; a game where you can earn everything for free but the time investment to earn even a single thing for free is pretty freakin’ long, that ain’t a good F2P model. Then there’s the FOMO they try to shove on you with vaulting Frames, Prime Access… WarFrame is a grindy MMO with good PR and that’s pretty much it; it’s on the same level as the Chinese MMOs that wow people in trailers with flashy combat but don’t show the drudgery of what it takes to get to that point. Halo’s F2P model ain’t great, but it’s leagues above what WarFrame is doing.

Is this a troll?
I can’t believe this is a real take.
Blaming the community for having expectations for the game xbox dubbed “most anticipated title ever.”

Most complaints to I’ve seen are fair for the most part tbh.

Fomo doesn’t really exist… yeah they vault frames, but the most expensive frame for the longest time was Loki prime (or Ash prime) and those sold for about 400p and those are always being sold thanks to people who have been hoarding relics for who knows how long…

Assuming you’ve done base game (star chart) you’ll have arbitration… a 1 hour survival run in arbitration can net about 50p probably more if you’re lucky. That’s what, an 8 hour grind for the most expensive item (excluding rivens) just in arbitration, you could just buy some primed mods from Baro when he shows up, re-roll Rivens until you get a god roll, relic hunt yourself for a pretty penny or do a combination of all of that.

It’s not particularly hard, time consuming yes (at least if you’re a new player who has to unlock the star chart first), but some people find that to be part of the appeal, and with a little luck or waiting, or even just some planning, you can turn 8 hours into 2.

Prime access is to skip the grind, show support, and get like 2 exclusive cosmetic items that you can’t buy anywhere else, again, not really FOMO, especially if it’s a frame you don’t care about.

Halo has the BP going for it, and that’s literally it.
The advent calendar events are highly debatable, the way the fracture system works, is also meh, being time gated, I won’t speak for the store as reset today might fix that and outdo warframe (as buying from market in warframe is stupid expensive), many of the events and gametypes are things that should’ve been in since launch, e.g. King of the Hill, Fiesta, still waiting on Infection, there’s nothing to actually earn in Halo compared to warframe, even if it takes 12 hours for a weapon, you can go out and earn it all.

Warframe is by no means perfect, but to say that Halo infinite, in all it’s butchered horror, outpreforms warframe, who has been refining it’s F2P model for what, 8 years, that’s a silly statement.

TL;DR - While warframe may not be very consumer friendly for beginners, it snowballs and that’s objectively far better than the meager selection from Infinite.

Don’t forget a more consumer friendly customisation system with the colour pallet system

This is a bad take.

Halo is not a “New” F2P title. Halo is an established franchise that is a flagship title for Xbox. There’s over 8 years worth of research out there that details the growing pains that F2P goes through, and how to learn from others mistakes.

Going F2P at this stage of the market is no excuse for Desync, Hit Reg issues, BTB not working, a lack of playlists, custom games not working, poor progression design, the game crashing live during HCS, ect.

All I can say is that IMHO that the game should not have even been released in the first place unless 343i did a comprehensive testing of the game before it was released.

That just goes to show that either 343i testing of the game procedure is incompetent or they released the game knowing of the issues and released the game under pressure from Microsoft to release the game with the issues that the game has now.

Either way 343i needs to re-think the game release procedures before the release a update or a complete game in the future IMHO. :fist_right: :fist_left:

I mean…if free to play means spending 6 years making this halo and releasing absolutely barebones material…then they did a fantastic job.

Previous halos had more and interesting stuff compared to this. A lot of this stuff is just bland.

Gameplay is smooth, yes. But where’s the content, gametypes, playlists, maps, PRE AND POST GAME LOBBIES? Progression, stats. Yadayadayadayada.

I could go on and on.

They did great releasing 1/3 of a game lol.

Co-op campaign! Campaign scoring…I mean do you want me to continue? Lol

It kinda reminds me of the the ol gaming days. In the old days some game developers would release a demo of the game for free. I think that was a good idea. As far as Halo Infinite seems to me it’s just a demo of a game that is not complete.

That would’ve been the 2 flights we had… and with all the feedback, it felt like they changed so little.

Lol, if “FOMO doesn’t really exist” then this:

is somehow not DE generating FOMO? DE lets you pay real money to skip the miserable grind and time constraints they put in place and buy powerful stuff for an advantage right off the bat. If I want to do it all for free, I guess I have to complete the star chart, play what sounds like an endgame mode for hours upon hours upon hours, or wait for a vendor to show up, and then trade him what, one of the kajillion different resources/currencies the game has for stuff?

Halo Infinite, where there’s no MMO RNG loot mechanics or time-gating hampering my enjoyment or ability to use different playstyles or weapons or abilities, and everything I can pay for being tied to cosmetics and cosmetics only, is leagues above what WarFrame has on offer.
