After getting a gold account for only a few hours, and after playing halo 4 for a bit I was banned from earning xp. Can anyone tell me why?
Did you even play the game? Looking at your recent games shows me that you have nearly zero points or kills in most of the matches.
You did not leave though, or had any guest in the games… it’s strange.
Did the message show you for how long you got banned?
Yes I did play the game, I wanted to play online with my son who’s 24. I’m not very good yet, so no I didn’t get many kills, but believe me I tried hard. My son was helping to explain things to me too so there were a few times that we were just standing still as he explained.
No, no message was received explaining why or for how long.
I’ve played offline before but online is very different.
Thank you, I will check out that thread.

That’s strange most ban msgs pop up during gameplay. It usually pops up though when you start the game. However, if you want to know the ban lengths, its:
1st Off: 24 hours
2nd Off: 1 week
3rd Off: 2 weeks
4th Off: I don’t think you want to go down that alley.
Nope it just says temporarily, but doesn’t specify an amount of time. I posted in the xbox support forums too about this, but that post hasn’t shown up yet on their site.
I look at that other thread you linked to, but there was nothing in there that I did in game. Do you know how I can find out the reason for the ban?

As Riot Rojas mentioned, temporarily should mean 24h in your case.
For the reason of the ban, you could shoot a pm over to bs angel, but you probably won’t recieve any answer in the next 3-4 weeks, considering that our beloved angel is on the E3 this week and always got a lot to do.
That link to Bsangel’s account doesn’t go anywhere.
If he’s gone do you know if there is another moderator I can contact? I want to play again, but I’m hesitant if I’m doing something without knowing it that will incur further suspensions.

He didn’t type BS Angel’s account name properly.
Try this one: bs angel
There’s a space in between the BS and Angel so that seems to be the culprit. If she doesn’t respond there try contacting her on Twitter, here.
Bear in mind that she probably won’t respond instantly. I’d say you’d have to wait for up to 24 hours depending on when she gets online and if she’s at E3 you may have to wait a teeny bit longer.
Thank you very much, that works better.

No problem, and good luck.
One last question that I hope someone here can answer for me.
Of waypoint’s list of possible reason, the only one that I think it could possibly be would be the “boosting, deleveling, idling” reason, as the other two have to do with modifying the game or console, which I know didn’t happen. So I think I may have done something that looks like one of those things.
Can someone explain to me what these things are so I can avoid them?

I’m not sure but I think you can be punished for going entire games without getting any kills, or for playing with guests who fail to get kills. I think this takes multiple games but again I’m unsure.
There is also an XP cap for each day. If you play enough games than you will have to wait until the next day to resume collecting XP. Based on what you wrote I don’t think this is your problem.
Edit: Were you banned from playing or from earning XP? I just checked your stats and I noticed you have only played 12 games so you definitely did not hit the XP cap.
You don’t think the xp cap is my problem or the boosting, idling thing?
Cause I know I did stand still a while, if that is what they mean by idling. But that was cause my son was either explaining something to me, or I left to let my dog outside.
I was banned from earning XP, not from playing.
That’s what I meant in the first place with my ‘did you even play’ post.
If you were idle a lot (didn’t play or even move), then the ban system might detect you and cosider you a ‘boosting account’. That means, an account which is only killed to help the others rank up and so on. This happens a lot with guests too, that’s why this behavior get’s banned.
As you have explained, you didn’t do that on purpose. But the system can’t know that, so it’s probably one of those rare mistakes.

And thanks. I didn’t noticed that before.
