Can't get into a match

I just finished downloading the beta, but every time I try to start matchmaking for a slayer game, it will find some players, and then the screen will flicker. Then, I get tossed back to the menu with a bunch of error messages saying the servers are inaccessible. Is this happening to anyone else? I’d really like to be playing the beta.

Yeah the same thing is happening to me right now

i know it keeps finding enough players to get a game and then it kicks our party out into the main menu and says server issue

Having the same issue

Nope. I’m having the same problem I have with the MCC though, as in, I can’t find any players despite the XBox telling me I have a perfect connection. Destiny and Titanfall work fine for multiplayer. 343 blows

It’s weird, then I went back to it a few minutes ago and found two games no problem. Interesting.

I am having the same problem after quitting and relaunching the beta. I was able to load games when I first got on yesterday and today. I think I have figured out when it happens and laid out my observation below.

Dec 29th

  • Xbox One is off overnight, fire up Halo 5 beta immediately on boot, matches load no problem.
  • Play a few matches, have to quit to dashboard to run errands, Xbox is not turned off.
  • Relaunch game and go to matchmaking, screen begins flickering and boots me saying “unable to join”
  • Quit to dashboard, restart xbox, power off, unplug all to no avail.
  • Does not work for the rest of the day

Dec 30th

  • Sleep overnight with Xbox off
  • Launch beta after powering on, join matches no problem, play through a few without backing out to menu or quitting.
  • Quit to dashboard while on matchmaking screen as my daughter needs to eat. (this problem must be why there is no “B” to back out while searching for matches?)
  • Return 10 minutes later, relaunch game go to matchmaking, screen flickers, unable to join.

NAT is OPEN.

Overall enjoying the beta thus far and will post updates on this issue as I observe them.

SCREEN FLICKER SOLUTION UPDATE

After restarting, redownloading the beta, etc… I began playing around with my network and discovered a temporary solution to the flickering screen, flashing screen, and/or unable to join error.

1. Turn off Xbox One entirely, unplug from back of Xbox to be sure.
2. Unplug your cable modem and your router.
3. Wait 15-30 seconds then plug in the modem first, router second, and fire up the Xbox One.
4. Go to Halo 5 Guardians Beta and join matchmaking.

NOTE: I have a dedicated IP address for the Xbox with all appropriate ports open, NAT is OPEN. Additionally this will only work for one session until you back out of matchmaking or quit the beta, in order to rejoin matchmaking you will have to follow the steps above again. This solution does not fix the problem indefinitely.
Hopefully the devs see this thread and fix!
