I figured I might as well create a post that should answer all questions on how to use any Halo functionality via web.
On March 31st, 2012. All Halo-related functionality on Bungie.net ceased to exist. Features that we are all used to including, “Download to Xbox”, “Render Film”, and “Send to File Share” are no longer available. Some, but not all of the Bungie.net functionality has made it to Waypoint.
The following is a list of web features and their current statuses:
API Keys
*On web, Bungie Pro users were able to access an API key to allow programmers to code a site or program (Windows, Mac, Mobile) to access back-end stats.
Status: Feature is still available on Bungie.net but applications that use API keys will only have data up to March 31st 2012. 343 Industries has confirmed that this is a feature that they are not planning to make available on halo.xbox.com
Changing Nameplates
*On web, you are able to configure a certain visual flair to your gamertag, otherwise known as a nameplate to your gamertag for view by you and others in a game lobby.
Status: Feature is no longer available and you are no longer able to change your nameplate. 343 Industries has confirmed that this is a feature that they are not planning to make available on halo.xbox.com
Create screenshot and send to web
*Whenever you create a screenshot and upload to file share, they are automatically hosted to web for view/download.
Status: Feature is currently not available, please see “Uploading game files to file share”.
Render Video
*Whenever you upload a video to file share, you are able to spend “points” to render film to web for download/stream.
Status: Feature is no longer available. 343 Industries has confirmed that this is a feature that they are not planning to make available on halo.xbox.com
Sneakernet
*Introduced April 1st 2012, users are able to update Halo: Reach character models on Bungie.net.
Status: Feature is available. Please click this link on how you can use this feature.
Uploading game files to file share
*Whenever you upload a game file (game type, map, or video) to file share, they are immediately accessible through web and able to add to a download queue next time you launch the respective Halo title.
Status: Feature is not available at this time.
> From “The Halo Bulletin: 3.28.12”
> [T]here will be a short period where new Halo: Reach user-generated content will not be accessible from the web. All Halo: Reach files will continue to be accessible in-game, though, just as they are today.
You will be able to search for files in-game and download them. You can expect the Waypoint version of the fileshare in the Summer of 2012.
Viewing game stats
*Search for a Gamertag on Web to view stats. K/D Ratio, Recent Games, etc.
Status for Halo 3: All Halo data on Bungie.net has been frozen on March 31st 2012. Unfortunately, Halo Waypoint does not store live Halo 3 game stats. There is currently no information as to whether or not this feature will return in the future.
Status for Halo: Reach: All Halo data on Bungie.net has been frozen on March 31st 2012. For new recent data, use Waypoint. You can use the search bar at the upper right hand corner of this page to find your gamertag OR if you want to find stats for your gamertag, just click on your gamertag at the upper-middle of the page and then “Service Record”.
That should cover everything, if there is anything I missed, please let me know! Thanks!
