CAN'T FIND GAMES? MAKE A NEW GAMERTAG AND IT WORKS

If you’re having trouble getting into games (stuck searching on matchmaking), try creating a new gamertag and use that. You should get games within a minute or two. When you create the new gamertag, it can use the Xbox Live Gold subscription from your current gamertag. For whatever reason I can’t find games on my normal gamertag, but on a new gamertag (on the same console, same internet, same everything) I find games easily.

I have found multiple people who this has worked for. I have no idea why it works, but please give it a chance and try it… I know it sounds stupid, but it works. Trust me.

EDIT: Again, you do NOT need to pay for a new gold subscription! As long as your current gamertag has a gold subscription, every other account on the same xbox console gets gold for FREE.

Yeah this worked for me when i couldn’t find any games in halo 2 classic. Now with the latest patch I can find games without needing to switch gamertags.

My guess would be the problem is being caused by saved data that is attached to your gamertag either client side or server side. Just me very uneducated guess.

Yeah, even with the latest patch I still need to switch gamertags. It has to have something to do with client/server side data attached to the gamertag. Thats the only explanation I can think of.

Ok. Let me spend $50 on a new gamertag.

If you read the main post again you would see that you dont need a new gold account.

As long as your current gamertag has gold, any other account on the same xbox console gets gold for free.

You can manually clear out the local save game cache. I do that after every update and fully restart my xbox by putting it in low power mode first.

To clear that cache out go to the dashboard, Hit the menu button on MCC and quit it if it is open, select manage, then clear out the LOCAL save data on the right. Not all.

Edit: There have been a few threads with tips like this that seem to help people. Those should really be compiled and stickied

yeah that sounds about right. They need to find a way to ‘purge’ tags and clean them when people get on MCC. If not accounts will be infected and essentially broken.

He is right. I have like 10+ silver accounts. I can play for free in multiplayer games like BF4, Halo, and Cod on all of them because my main account has gold already.

You literally spend $0 on making a new account. At the very least it allows you to get into MCC matchmaking better (hopefully).

When I tried clearing the local game data it didn’t help unfortunately. I tried so many different things, but eventually I tried using a different gamertag and it worked. Wish I would have sooner because it would have gave me some life expectancy back from all the stressed this has caused me.

Totally agree that there should be a sticky. Its pretty much impossible to use google to find these tips. They’re all in threads and posts that get buried.
