So I just bough an Xbox and got Halo 5 with it. Obviously because Halo should be the best FPS multiplayer on the platform. So far I’ve got no luck in finding arena matches… I’ve tried all the game types, but non of them groups me up with anyone to start a game. Is this an issue on my part?

It maybe due to your location. Make sure you search on expanded setting. Also try a hard reset. Sometimes if your Xbox is running a bunch of other programs in the back ground it can mess with other functions.
Thanks for the tips. My locations shouldn’t matter too much right? There should be enough Europeans playing. I’ll put my search preference on “expanded”, it was on “balanced” now and reset my xbox. Let’s hope it helps.
Happens to me at times. Not that often though.
I’m in America and sometimes have the same issue. Like right now I’m searching for breakout but haven’t found anything in over 5 minutes of searching.
But why is that? Is the matchmaking just broken or is the playerbase so small? I mean, I should have quite a good ping all over Europe, that can’t be the issue.
Some playlists are quieter than others. And some times of day are quieter. I’d say that the majority of the Halo population is from the US, with smaller groups scattered about elsewhere.
I’m in the UK, and now have to use expanded to find a game at all on FFA and Warzone Assault. I can get away with balanced and even focused on Team Slayer in the evenings. But in the mornings I have to use balanced or even expanded to get a game on anything. My guess is that because the US is 5-8 hours behind us, when I try to play at say 10am, it’s 2-5am there and most people are asleep.
The game has really died out lately, it wasn’t this quiet a few months back. But my guess is that people have been driven away by the crap they’ve had to put up with, as Halo 5 has some game breaking bugs and flaws that have been totally ignored by 343. They rarely give the forum here any attention at all, and threads can go on for hundreds of pages without a reply.
Even Warzone is dying out now, it takes longer to find a game than ever before. And Warzone was the most popular playlist. It’s a shame, but what can we do?
That’s a shame. I always thought Halo was THE multiplayer FPS on the Xbox. Well, I’m not ready to give up yet. Patience got tested but got a few games in a row afterwards and absolutly loved it. Even though I absolutly suck playing with a controller haha.

Halo is THE multiplayer FPS for xbox but the problem is that newer Halo games don’t feel like Halo anymore. This has caused a huge drop off in population for the main fan base. You just jumped in at the wrong time bud. Halo Reach is backwards compatible and still pulls a pretty good population not to mention cheap. So maybe try that game. Sadly Halo MCC is still glitchy and some of the playlist are still messed up which has also caused a population drop. I can’t Recommend MCC with a good conscious at least for the MP aspect.
Overall Halo is the best FPS out there in my opinion but because of 343’s disregard for classic Halo it has fallen into a dark state. Hopefully we will get Halo 3 Anniversary next year so hold out until then. I believe 343 will learn from their mistakes and hopefully in the years to come Halo will return to it’s roots.

The Halo campaigns are amazing though

Yeah if your looking to play campaign then get MCC . It’s definitely worth it for that . I’ve put countless hours into that game just trying to get all the achievements.
Ye I’ve bought the MCC aswell. For now I’ll only play Halo 5 for the mutliplayer and start playing all the campaigns for the previous versions first.
