Every time i load the game it tells me it failed to authenticate user which is really odd because everytime iv played since release iv not had this issue. I hadn’t played halo5 for a quite a few months since the last time i play so i decided to start playing it again but randomly the multiplayer service wont connect and it was working fine a few months back and nothing has changed since. I got the same xbox, same account and even same internet provider. Can someone offer a solution to this problem or am i just never gunna be able to play halo 5 online again.
Maybe try restarting your modem, or if you have an ethernet cable try hooking it up to your modem for better connection.

Try hard resetting your xbox (holding the button on the front until it completely shuts off) and cycling your modem.
Try resetting Alternate MAC Address in system network settings on your Xbox One to clear the network cache and to improve the general responsiveness of Halo 5.
thanks i will try both ideas
In addition to the other suggestions, check if your Xbox Live subscription is still active.
I’m having the same issue. Have deleted and reinstalled. Using same account, same ISP and have managed to play Halo 1-4 successfully this week. It’s just H5. I have a disc not a download copy. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Xbox Live is having problems off and on today. Core services was down for little bit.
Weird. Am on Sky and randomly and across a post suggesting I whitelist the halowaypoint.com site. Hey presto. It’s working. Bonkers. I hate Sky

Similar problem just started about 4 months ago for me. Every time I load halo5 (this initial time only) and go to go play some multiplayer it never lets me in the very first time. My friends and I have to connect to a fake forge game and then go to war zone after the fake game has loaded and we quit out. And I do not get in this so called fake game right away. It loads as if to start, kicks me, and 2 error m sages show up before it try’s to load up again. Then takes me in game easy peasy. I reset modem, router, Xbox, and reinstalled halo5. Nothing will work so staring to think it is a server error but only deeper than server wide and just effecting certain named accounts. Did my cloud backup get to large 343??

Welp! MAC address change did nothing for me. Help 343!
KittyGinger - Please don’t revive old topics or post multiple times in a row. If you need to add more information or quote other users, you can edit your last post. You would be better creating your own topic for this issue and detailing out the problem and what you’ve tried. Worth noting that Xbox Live was having some issues last night
