My friend and I are trying to play Halo Wars 2 together, him PC and me on Xbox, but we keep getting the same prompt no matter who is squad leader, telling us that the squad leader has a different version. As far as I knew the Xbox and PC are on the same build, I’m not sure what to do from here, suggestions?
I would recommend trying these steps in the following order:
- Both players quit their current build, restarting the game, and try playing together again. - If step 1 doesnt work, try performing a cold boot on both devices the clear the active memory to see if that changes anything. - If step 2 fails, it is likely the install is corrupted. Find a third friend (I can help if needed: GT is ‘BtC Hosticide’) and try to start a game separately with each player. If one of the people still can’t start a game with the 3rd player, then they are the ones with the corrupted install and they need to likely re-download the game. - If both players can start a game with the 3rd player, then try resetting your routers and modems because that could possibly be a connectivity issue to the server. - IF ALL ELSE FAILS, both players (you and your friend) should try re-installing Halo Wars 2. If none of those things resolve the issue, i’d recommend contacting a developer or someone from support to resolve the issue, because beyond that point I would have no idea! I hope this helps out and you two can get some games in!
