they look cool and all, but i think its kinda dumb…why would they have a human skull on the inside? Unless their is some canonical reason or maybe the device in their head mimics their enemy in some way, i think its really cheesy.
I mean there are thousands of species in halo, why would they have the basic human shape and then a human skull on the inside?
I think it’s just for intimidation factor but i wouldn’t put it past the Forerunners to “studying” humans like they did the Flood and convert them into War Machines. They were, at one time, enemies to the Forerunners.
Could also be the fact that the Forerunners have some similarities to humans but these are constructs we are fighting, not actual Forerunners unless they converted themselves into Knights or something.
Im thinking the Knights and other AI;s have the spirits or souls of fallen Forerunners if you have read Criptium he mentions about his war Sphinx saying they had the memories of fallen warriors perhaps these knights are similar
I think it’s a fear factor. Chances are a Knight can change the shape of what is under the helmet to any shape, and it simply used a human skull in an attempt to strike fear into Master Chief.
Depictions of human skulls have been used as a symbol to cause fear in almost every single human civilization since the dawn of time. Makes sense for others to use similar tactics.

The forerunners were at war with humans for a while, but they did see the human race as a formidable species and had some high respect for them. They also chose humans to be the “Reclaimer” race that was supposed to be the heir to the forerunner tech. Maybe they based some of their machines on humans too.

It’s funny cause MC pretty much just -Yoink- slapped him off.

I agree with the bold text. I think it will take on the shape of the skull of whatever enemy it happens to be fighting.

That’s because he’s the frikkin’ Chief! Also keyword was attempt.
I thought the Knights are Primordial. If anyone has read the first two books in the forerunner saga, humans and forerunners were at war. Perhaps these Knights are of ancient human design, which is why they would have human based skulls.

If so then why did they attack Master Chief? He is human.

That bold sentence right there is false, kinda. They didn’t choose to make Humans the Reclaimers, the Timeless One basically did. The TO said Forerunners failed and that Humans were next. so, Forerunners made it where Humans, since they were next, able to use their tech to not fail hopefully.
OT: that skull is awesome, scary, and looks like the new Elite’s madibles. though why it has a Human shaped skull when it’s one, not organic and two, it’s an AI? mysterious, and can’t wait to find out why!
