Anyone else think it would be cool if we got a new difficulty or skull that makes the game equivalent to the canon? I think it would be pretty cool as missions would take much longer and encounters as a whole could be much more exciting, it could be unlocked after you beat Legendary
By canon difficulty you mean plasma weapons get a massive buff and can burn right through the armor and human weapons against elites’ shields would be on par with legendary on Reach being insanely difficult?

Give examples. I don’t understand how it would be significantly different from other difficulties. Do you mean that the Needler will super combine in one shot?

Yes, that’d be fun and challenging
If that was implemented, I would have too much fun pushing my marines out into the crossfire. They would get melted faces in an instant.

Actually I wouldn’t be against this, though I think it would be tough for them to pull off in a way which isn’t frustrating.

Think legendary on Reach where Human weapons are like peashooters against an Elite’s shields and their plasma weapons absolutely destroy shields/armor/and flesh. If you’ve read the books that’s pretty much what he wants as a difficulty.
I remember back in Halo 2, or when your health was down to one bar in Halo CE, an Elite could take you out with a quick burst of 4 rounds from his Plasma Rifle.
Those were much more challenging days indeed.
But it would be nice if they designed it so that the realism worked in your favour as well, meaning that weapons of all kinds would be even more effective than they are against fleshy enemies like Grunts and Jackals, while you would pretty much require some kind of Covenant weapon for taking down Elites.
It would be nice to see the AR and it’s special ammunition used for taking out enemy vehicles, I can’t remember what the rounds were called, Shredder rounds or something like that?
As well as having fully charged Plasma Pistol shots be lethal to low-shielded or unshielded enemies, and plasma of all kinds doing wicked damage to your vehicle, melting it and fusing joints and the like together.
I see a lot of awesome potential in a difficulty like this. Especially if it could be on some level applied to the Multiplayer as an alternate gametype, much like SWAT. I already did a “slightly more realistic” rebalancing of weapons by giving players 2x overshields and 2x damage, which in Halo Reach made no impact on most weapons, but gave the Plasma Rifle a buff it desperately needed.
How about the red, blue and yellow skull
This way you can make the game more cannon by making enemies smarter or a little weaker.
But activating these skulls negates any progress for challenges or achievements.
It will otherwise be to easy.
This also means enemies will no longer stand around in the open when they know your present, they will have far better tactics.

I would love to see the enemies being smarter and making intelligent decisions, as opposed to just becoming ridiculous bullet sponges.
That’s the main way in which I’d like a new difficulty to differentiate itself from Legendary.

Let me have a think about it, the only thing apart from True or Canon would be Insane or whatever it is in Gears of War

I still don’t see where this canon difficulty will differ from any normal hard mode. If you’re talking about plasma melting Marines’ skins and explosions tearing away limbs- that’s likely not going to happen (Halo was never gory), and if it will it won’t be made exclusively for one difficulty or one skull, but for the whole game. Other than that kind of thing, making enemies tougher is just like Legendary and I don’t see why it’s necessary to add yet another mode on top of that.

If you’re going with the “True” theme… How about “Unmythical” 
I would definitely be in favor of this, kind of like L4D2’s “realism” mode.
Why not the name ‘Onyx’ or ‘Melt face’ mode/difficulty?
