Cannot source a online game online on Halo 5

Hey guys,
My account won’t load any online games on Halo 5.

I have got a friend to log into his account on MY Xbox, using MY disc and he could play online no worries.

i have then logged into my account on HIS Xbox using HIS game and again I was NOT able to source a online game, it just times out.

So I can’t rule out a disc/console Issue and feed this is a account issue.

Any ideas on what’s going on?

How long do replies take???

Cmon guys  how long does a reply take???

Check your Xbox Live account. (Gold Membership)

Yeah I have been in contact with Xbox for the past 2 weeks and all they offered was to get on this site :expressionless:.

I’m so confused, is this a forum where game developers read our questions and try to resolve our issues??

This is truely disappointing.

Firstly, I understand you may be having an issue but bumping your thread to the top of the list once a day is against the forum rules. Please refrain from doing that.

Secondly, this is not an official source for customer service. Sometimes, when they are able, the forum team will reply to users and look into issues, but there is no submitting tickets or chatting with a customer service rep for Halo 5.

Thirdly, you have online game history since making this thread. You’ve got matchmaking history in Super Fiesta and Action Sack going back to April 18, when you first made this thread. Based on that evidence, it looks like your claim that your account cannot load any online games is simply untrue. That’s also probably part of the reason why you haven’t gotten any replies. If you are having some other kind of issue, please explain it more clearly, because based on what you’ve already said it appears there is no issue at all.

Firstly-
I don’t even know HOW to bump my thread to the top of the line, and if it was, I’d hate to see how long a response would take if I didn’t do this! 8 days is too long.

Secondly-
IF someone replied I would have HAPPILY explained in more detail that the only way I CAN play online and that is if I link up with a friend! SO to make it clear I cannot play when I feel like it and I’m at the mercy of friends being online and willing to play which is not acceptable as I PAY to play this online with a Xbox live membership. (Don’t make me out to be a liar and get the facts before you speak)

Thirdly-
This issue has now been going on for 3 weeks with no fix, after 2 weeks Xbox told me to try this forum which has not been unhelpful. Why don’t you guys have contact points other than this? Why do you make it so hard to get in contact? You wait 22+ days to get an issue fixed and THEN come and give me the attitude! Even better! You have a gaming issue for 22 days which you’ve been invested daily into resolving THEN let me tell you that there is no issue when you clearly know there is!

Bumping is exactly what you were doing. You were posting in your thread to purposefully make it the most recent thread activity in the support forum, to increase its visibility. This is against the forum rules. If you don’t know the rules, I highly suggest you go to any subforum and read them, and then ask a mod if you don’t understand something. Ignorance is not an excuse that will save you from moderation in the future.

I said that based on what I could see about your case, it appeared that there was no problem. This is because all you said was that you could not load any online games. If you had mentioned in your initial post that you could only play when in a fireteam with another player, that would have been a valuable piece of information. Don’t get snippy with me for making assumptions since you did not provide all the details up front.

Like I said, this is not a traditional customer support forum. It’s not designed to be that way. I have no control over the decisions 343i makes about how to deal with troubleshooting and problems with players’ games. This support forum is all we get and we make do; that’s the reality. Most of the time you get help here from other community members, or moderators like me, who aren’t affiliated with 343i and are just forum volunteers. We try to to provide helpful suggestions and advice when we can.

As for your issue, now that you’ve so kindly provided more details about it, my suggestion would be to go the enforcement.xbox.com and check your reputation. You may be affected by low reputation which can block your ability to matchmake with players who have good reputation. Bad reputation is essentially the same as “Avoid Me”. You can tell if your reputation is at risk if it is yellow/orange, or bad if it’s red. Beyond that, I’m not sure what the issue could be. Can you play other online games on your account without being in a team/party with someone else? Have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling Halo 5? Have you tried removing your profile from your console then redownloading it?

So as a monitor you’ve called me a liar and ignorant…NICE. Anyway I’m not here to fight just wanted some help.

Player rating is green/good.
i have done many things with the Xbox team including changing internet supplies, deleting game saves, deleting the game, factory reset, you name it, but still no luck.

I did randomly get to load 3 games last night but it’s still very inconstant and most of the time will time out. Sadly tonight when I tried it just timed out again.

I wonder if you notice the irony of you lying about me calling you a liar. And before you come back with “but you did, there’s proof!”, go back and reread my replies and quote the areas where I directly call you a liar or call you ignorant.

You didn’t answer my question about your ability to play other multiplayer games. That was an important question because it establishes whether your issue is Halo 5-specific or spans multiple titles. If you have MCC or Halo Wars 2, that would be a great additional test because it would also help us establish whether the issue occurs with any 343i game. You should also test playing a non-343i.

If you are getting inconsistent success with connecting to online games in Halo 5 with all the troubleshooting you’ve said you’ve done, then that does sound like an account issue. Have you tried making a new account and seeing if that lets you play consistently?

Have you tried changing your matchmaking search preference to “Expanded”? (you can set this as the first menu item in the screen where you pick the playlist you want to try)

Your symptoms sound very similar to what happens to people in geographical regions that don’t have a huge population of Halo players online at a given time (like parts of Brazil and Australia). Especially if you’re a pretty skilled player, it can be hard to find enough people at comparable skill levels AND acceptable latency. Changing the search preference to “Expanded” can make this a bit better.
