I would have reported this during the flight testing, but I, unfortunately, wasn’t notified outside of this site that I was invited, since I don’t check this site very often, I completely missed the invite.
I grew tired of trying to use the controller very quickly as none of the layouts actually suit my desired playstyle, at times most of the buttons would be in the correct place except perhaps one or two, and when I found another layout that moved those buttons to the correct place, it would change a bunch of other buttons to undesirable locations as well, as such I decided to instead use the mouse and keyboard.
When playing with the mouse and keyboard I found that some of the keys weren’t in places I was comfortable with, for example having melee on Q and weapon swap on 1, so I went to change these keys, I bound melee to mouse 4 and weapon swap to Q (as it is in Half Life 2), thinking about the future of playing in multiplayer, I decided to rebind some more keys preemptively, the key I altered was the “push to talk” button, which I changed from V to X, immediately I was met with a message stating that there were some empty actions that needed keys mapping to them, so I went down the list and found the empty action and mapped a key to it, it wasn’t an action I could imagine using so I bound it to a random key, yet the message telling me there were empty actions remained. I went down the list and saw that every action had a key mapped to it, but I couldn’t accept the new configuration, I either had to go back into the settings, or cancel everything.
- Go into your settings and configure your mouse and keyboard bindings to bring up the list of actions and keys;
- Rebind the action “push to talk” to any key (preferably a key that currently has a binding elsewhere)(I used “X”);
- If you bound push to talk to an action that already had a binding, replace that action with another key (and continue until all actions have a key bound).
- Attempt to save your changes by exiting back to the game or menu.
Doing so should show that you cannot leave withing making sure all actions have keys bound, even though you made sure all action do have a key bound.
