Cannot play the game - Error code 0x80070057

How amazing. After complaining about the regular updates and how frustrating they are when you just want to pick up and play the game for an hour or so (and then having these posts locked), it seems the last update managed to completely screw up the disc.

I keep getting the error code 0x80070057. I’ve uninstalled the game, I’ve cleaned the disc and I’ve carried out a full console reset. Yet when I put the disc back in and try to play it, I keep getting the error code.

Oh the irony of complaining about the constant tinkering and updates and then the last one renders the disc and game utterly useless.

This is happening to me too

Thanks Fearless, encouraging to know that I’m not the only one.

What is your OS Version? That information can be found in Settings > System > Console Info. There is another thread about this from earlier in the month, but the thought was that a newer platform version would fix the problem with this error code.

You can also try some of the steps in the thread below. If you are using an external HDD, you can try to install on the internal HDD, or vice versa.

Hi IK Grubb

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Yes, when I originally posted I just assumed it was something that I, or my console, was doing wrong. It’s kind of reassuring to know that it’s clearly a much bigger problem.

I’m not sure what my OS version is (I’m at work at the moment) but I did get the machine Xmas 2015. I don’t have an external HDD but can’t install it to the internal HDD or even play from the disc.

I’ll take a look at the thread and see what I can glean. Thanks again for your response, really appreciate it.

Just tried to install the the game and got the same error code. Digital edition, installing to internal HDD. Anyone found a fix yet?

Hey UndeadBubba, the thread here

is seemingly all about this problem that we have been having. Apparently no fixes yet. MS and 343 seem to be batting backwards and forwards who is to blame and meanwhile few can play HW2

Thanks for the heads up.
