So recently I tried to open the Halo Hub application in order to play some Halo Wars 2. However when I try to open it, it shows the Halo logo for an extended period of time, then once it gets past that it shows the default UI. However the UI is blank, where the games are shown is blank, and where the news part is, is also blank. I’ve restarted my computer, reset the application, reinstalled the application and Halo Wars 2. All to no avail. Does anyone have a fix?
Bump: I’ve found posts about this problem going back all the way to 2017. I only recently started having this problem.
I tried:
- Restart PC
- Reinstall Halo/Xbox related apps
- Update all Halo/Xbox related apps
- Checked connectivity to Xbox services
- Deleted temporary files related to Halo/Xbox apps
- Other general Windows maintenance (Updates, cleanups, etc)
Also, all to no avail.
The only solution I’ve seen work for someone is “wait until it works again”. Which is just… unreliable.
I truly hope you’ve found a solution, or someone else comes across this knowing how to solve it. Because we’re starving for some Halo.
It’s so annoying this -Yoink- launcher is necessary for our Microsoft Store Halo titles…
Yeah, I’ve done everything short of a computer reset and nothings worked. I just wanna play some Halo Wars 2, its so bloody annoying.

The posts from like 2017 about this, never got support either. So I’m afraid we might be screwed until a Halo app update, or Windows Update fixes it for us…
EDIT:
After forcefully taking control of the WindowsApps folder, and messing about trying to launch the game and HaloHub app directly from their directories, I was able to get the error that “mrt100_app.dll” can’t be found.
This .dll is part of the Microsoft Native Runtime and can usually be found under (numbers will vary):
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.NET.Native.Runtime.2.2_2.2.28604.0_x86__8wekyb3d8bbwe
Normally I’d put a missing .dll file into the game’s directory, however even with these folders under my ownership I cannot add any files to Microsoft Store app folders. If you can, you might want to give it a try to put “mrt100_app.dll” into the following folder:
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Tomp_1.0.4723.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
I just figured this out on my machine 5 mins ago. The Halo App is no longer supported by Microsoft. If you delete it, then launch the game directly, it should run. Hope this helps.

Wait what? That would have been nice to see when opening the Halo app lmao
I had this precise issue. Here’s what (finally) resolved my issue:
Go to W10 Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Scroll down to Halo > Uninstall
The Halo app is still bundled with all the W10 store apps, and will hang/not work if launched. Getting rid of it resolved my issue and I could launch all my Halo-related apps again.
