I know it’s great having a physical copy of the disc but it has been confirmed the full game will download and install prior to launch if bought digitally.
“The silver lining: If you’re sure you want the game and you’re OK with a digital copy, you can pre-order and pre-download both the full game and the day-one patch before November 11. Says a Microsoft rep to Kotaku”

Uh…digital copy STILL needs to update I just finished the DL and it was only 45 gigs
Secondly…45 gigs took me 90 minutes where do you get 6 hours?

Microsoft will have the best servers running but 100,000 people downloading the update will defiantly slow things down abit.
and did you not read the above quote, Both will be downloaded PRIOR to 11th

Uh…I edited. I finished the download and it is only 45 gigs
Secondly unless you are jumping immediately to mp it will not matter
Of course the campaign gets boring real quick, If you go to Settings>Network on your console, you should see a few options. Check the boxes that say “download game updates automatically” and set your console to “Instant-on”. It should download the 20gb update automatically.

Agree to disagree.

This may come as a surprise, but not everyone has the same speed internet. For example, with my super crappy rural Australian internet if I were to pre download the game it would take 240 hours for the 45GB game and 106 for the 20GB update, rendering my internet useless during the whole process. I’ll definitely stick to disc, and find somewhere else to download the update.
I really wanted a physical copy. I really wanted the Bandanna skull. I wanted to go to the midnight launch.
Above all of that though, I really want to play Halo: MCC’s multiplayer the day it comes out. a 20 GB update is INSANE. I’ll just preload, and hope they don’t make me wait until 12 PST. This is leaving a bad taste in my mouth though. I’m really glad they don’t want to cut corners, but this information is something that I almost missed. It would have RUINED the night for me, because honestly, as much as I LOVE the story, cannot wait for the new campaign, am absolutely determined to watch Nightfall, above all of that, I just want my night to be as much multiplayer as I can stuff into a 3 hour period. So long as I can play the game’s full multiplayer at 12:01 AM EST 11.11.14, I’ll be a satisfied customer. This is Halo’s hail Mary, and it’s very likely that it will succeed, but pretending Halo isn’t already 3rd and 30 is how you wind up with a fumble and not a touchdown. This needs to be a flawless execution, not something that is going to be remembered as a bad launch. Flawless. I know 343i can do it, they just need to make damn sure it all comes together.
As a university student who has not only been waiting a decade for this collection, but is also heading home November 14th to pick up the game at the Gamestop near my house, I think a few hours of updating is nothing. My patience is intact. Albeit, I won’t get any sleep that night, but that’s besides the point.

Agreed - once you’ve had a high speed internet for a while, you tend to forget not everyone else is as lucky as you.
Me? Well, I started the download at 5:40PM and by 10:50PM when I went to work it was at 2%. So much for ninety minutes! =/
I got the physical copy pre-ordered but pre-loaded the digital one on impulse too. Figured I’d get it downloaded early in the meantime then play it when it comes out instead of waiting for Amazon to ship it to my house (3-5 Business days too bah.)

I bought this game because of campaign.
And yes, I do play lots of multiplayer as well.
for anyone who wants the bandanna skull, you can preorder digital copies at Gamestop. they give u a code, and u can predownload it on xbox live just like u would if u purchased it from the marketplace directly.

NEVAR!!! THE MUSTARD CHEF SHALL LIVE ON!!!
(In all seriousness, though, stop your BS. campaign should keep me occupied for at least two weeks.)

Or just wait a month after the game releases since they’ll be unlocking all the preorder skulls at that time.
If you Pre-Order the Digital copy on the Microsoft store on xbox one it will download the entire game onto your hard drive and will be ready for you to play at 12 pst
Or just go with digital…
I prefer my physical copy but I think I might opt for the digital download myself so I can just load it up on midnight launch without leaving the comfort of my home
To me, this is the ultimate package to own digitally. I would never sell it, ever, so no worry about losing out on resale and I will be playing it all the time so why have to get up and insert a disk?
Add the bonus of full copy, locked and loaded, ready to go at 12:01 am on 11/11? Digital is a no brainer to me. Physical disks get scratched too, my collection is digital this gen.

I’m going to be playing campaign first anyway so getting a physical copy won’t matter for me. By the time I finish campaign the update will be done.
