I have found(this only works with the magnum as the primary weapon) that if you yy(or whatever your weapon switch button is) before you slide you will come up with some interesting results. All you have to do is sprint, yy, then slide almost simultaneously after you yy and you will slide with your wepon still up. And yes, you can shoot while doing this. I found this myself and I don’t know if anyone has found this yet I looked all over youtube. If someone did find this out already please let me know. Oh and don’t tell your friends you can use it on them.

I don’t understand the question. If you mean why cancel the animation you would do it when you slide around a corner and someone starts shooting at you. You would have to wait for the animation to end to start shooting. Canceling the animation allows you to shoot while sliding and I don’t know about you but I’d be surprised to see someone shoot at me while they were sliding in this game.
