Can you use mods for MCC on Xbox one?

Sorry if this has been asked and answered, but I’m still confused. With all this mod talk I’m seeing with MCC, I’m just wondering if that only applies to PC, or are the consoles included? We’re still using original Xboxes for our CE LANs, but our hardware won’t last forever, so I’m trying to find a backup plan. Despite the work that’s been done for CE in the MCC, it’s still not the same as the og, and I’m wondering if modders have or will remedy that; and if that work can be used on the consoles. Thanks for the help👍

As it stands there is no mod support on console and the team doesn’t have any definite plans to support mods on console. The team has expressed interest in being able to support mods on Xbox, but this would probably be a discussion further down the line.

Your best backup plan would be to get ahold of PC setups.

Out of curiosity what is the main reason holding back the MCC version of CE?

Fair enough. Thanks for the response :+1:

As for ‘what’s wrong with MCC’? It’s hard to specifically articulate (at least for me)… I bet someone else could. For me, it just doesn’t ‘FEEL’ right. It’s like hugging your grandma, or the smell of fresh cut grass; they’re known quantities, familiar, stable. And MCC is like a strange mirror version, with some added or subtracted ingredients. Well, that’s the abstract silly response.

But I’ve also only played it online, so I don’t know how it plays in a LAN setting. We need to try it out, but getting enough new boxes (or PCs) is a hurdle, getting everyone to buy new controllers, etc. It’s doable, but to go through all of that, and still not have the ‘true’ experience… that’s asking a lot… and is it worth it?

That’s where we are

MCC can run on lower end PCs, especially if you’re playing CE, and mods are available for PC

Yeah, I just need to test some mods out and see if they’re acceptable.

From what I understand the hitreg feels quite different from OG CE, but I wouldn’t know for certain. After playing a few matches today I can say at least it’s super frustrating when my crosshair is red and the bullets seem to veer off and as a parting gift I’m 3 shotted.

I am super interested to hear what are the main concerns you have as a long time CE player. If you get around to testing LAN on MCC please do share your findings here. A lot of comparisons are years old and at least a few critical bugs have been fixed (like the rocket angle) since they were made. I’m curious what are the major bugs left.

Yes, hitreg and audio for gunfire still seems off to me. I pretty much want the ability to play the original version, completely unadulterated. With the og version, one of the only real problems I’ve ever had was a very specific instance, where if I fired a rocket, while turning mid-air, after being blown off course by an explosive… my shot would fire sideways. Super rare, and not that big of a problem. I’m probably missing something, but that speaks volumes to how well the original was made. And for the MP to be thrown together as an afterthought, they did something that I find truly amazing. Maybe it was an accident, but I glad it happened.

If I can get a MCC LAN together I will totally let you know what I find. :+1:

Depends on the content. In my case, I was able to download a modded Firefight file on PC and upload it into fileshare, so we could play as Elites in place of Spartans and I can use it just fine in XONE. Furthermore, Customs Browser has a bunch of modded gamemodes, both old (such as TrustySnooze’s modded gametype that, for example, spawns bipeds) and new (the AI Zombies)
However, this might be as much as it’s reliably possible. Custom content, such as new models or animations, are a much bigger reach as it’s content that it’s not installed, and won’t be simply installed unless you manage to crack your console.

Basically: Modded files that use in-game assets are feasible. Custom content is likely impossible.

I really would just want mods that fix anything that 343 didn’t. After that, maybe some alternate weapon and player spawns. That and new maps are all I would want.

But you were able to use mods on console?

They are referring to custom games made with mega scripting. Reach, H4, and H2A support mega scripted custom gametypes which run fine on console, but their is a limit to how much you can mod the gametype. CE, H2C, and H3 gametypes are hard coded and do not support any mega scripts.

Well, phewy! Thanks for the clarification

It is possible. Given how MCC works, it’s feasible to download modified .map files and/or gamemodes (mostly the gamemodes). The “Reach: Evolved” gamemode that sometimes rotates into matchmaking does it.

And yes, I did use “mods”. But not just for Custom Games. By using the PC version of MCC, you can download modded files and upload them into fileshare, and it’ll be available on Xbox. It’s possible this method could also bypass the need for mega scripting @UnheardCARNAGE talked about, but I haven’t been able to properly test this.
