Can you stop with the "It's not Halo..."

Halo has changed with every version, some good changes, some ones that have really shaken things up.

GASP! Dual wielding?? That’s not Halo.

Armor Customization?!?! Oh no, that’s not Halo.

Special abilities… Not Halo.

Games change, evolve, and improve.

If you want a game that looks like Halo 3, plays like Halo 3, and smells like Halo 3, play Halo 5. Oh wait…

If you add something to the game and the game is still playable on the same maps that have always been used throughout the franchise, then that’s a good addition.

If you add something to the game and you have to totally and fundamentally change the way you design maps, then it’s a bad addition.

Sprint falls into the second category and makes the game, not Halo.

I understand your view but if you play this game a lot you realize that some of the major things about Halo are just so different now. Such as Grenades and melee. With the thruster pack, great grenade throws have become useless, and with the quick kill times melee killing someone is a pretty rare event. I’m going to buy the game, I love all Halos, and I really think 343 is going to take the data from this Beta and make important tweaks, but its current state hurts the Guns/nades/melee system we’ve become used to. Now its more Guns/Legs/Thruster

It’s still halo… But broken halo, I’m one who has never minded any title changes from game to game. Even armor lock was fine. And have no prob with sprint. But boost is horrible. Makes a kill in any other halo turn into a assist or a broken controller when enemy goes from wide open to cover with the press of a button! That makes it not halo!

Aside from automatics now having scope, sprint is really the only mechanic that fundamentally changes the game now. I think most of the reasoning for “it’s not Halo” lie in the aesthetics. 343 went so overboard with changing sounds and looks that weapons which are literally the exact same model as in previous games both look and sound different. The shield sounds have been completely changed for the first time ever, as they had been the same since 2001 They even changed the default controller scheme, which other than a few adjustments between titles has been practically the same since, again, 2001.
These aren’t examples of evolution or progression–they’re pointless changes.
