Can you hold too many grenades in Halo 2: Anni?

I feel that being able to hold 2 of each kind would suit the small maps offered in Halo 2: Anniversary. I know there are 2 bigger sized maps but they aren’t gigantic. It seems like more and more people just spam with grenades if they know you are in a certain spot. If everyone on the team had full grenades and spammed an area they could throw 32! That’s ridiculous. At the very least double the spawn time of grenades on the map. Grenade spamming doesn’t belong in a skill ranked game. If you agree please comment and vote yes to let 343i know what the deal is. If you don’t agree please explain why. Thanks.

If you know an enemy is in a certain spot, why shouldn’t you spam that spot with grenades?

Because it’s annoying as hell.

If I know an enemy is behind a corner, why would I run around that corner and risk getting blasted with a shotgun when I can instead either kill them or chase them out with grenades?

It could be to many. Maybe that is why you can’t carry as many in Halo 3. The only thing I wish about grenades is that you should be able to carry a max amount no matter what type. I hate how you can carry 4 frag and 4 plasma so why can’t I carry say 6 frag and 2 plasma or whatever as long as I have 8?

CE, H2C, H2A, and halo 3 all have a max grenade count of 8. I don’t see how it’s a problem.

If you’re having trouble with grenade spam, don’t sit in the same spot. You could also prevent the other team from getting so many grenades by picking up the spawns and using all of yours before you die.

I’m not a fan of the grenade spamming in Halo 2 but that is just personal taste. I guarantee though if Halo 2 only let you hold two grenades I would moan about not being able to hold enough grenades.

H2A lets you carry 4 of each grenade because it is based on Halo 2, and Halo 2 was a pioneer of bringing console shooters online. Because of this, it was bound to run into some balancing problems. The BR was excessively dominant, few weapons could counter vehicles, and grenade capacity was so high that the amount of spamming would be insane. Think about it, four enemies with 4 to 8 grenades each, tossing them as fast as they can toward you. With all that spam, some of them are bound to hit you no matter where you go, and they still have plenty of grenades left. People argue that Halo 3 has the same grenade capacity, though this is not entirely true. There are 4 grenade types, and you can carry 2 of each. In matchmaking, frags were on all maps. Any map that had plasmas usually didn’t have spikes, and vice versa, and the firebomb was almost non-existent in matchmaking.

At the end of the day, if a game is being remade, it’s more important to make it balanced than to make it as close to the original as possible.

@Willko you are completely missing the point homey… I’m not saying that a player should NOT spam grenades given they have them, that would be stupid. That is why I am asking if you should be able to hold less so that you HAVE to go around the corner instead of throwing 8 grenades around it. It takes out a large degree of the skill and strategy in a skill ranked game.

@Cobra 087 Rhydon65 is right. You can carry 8 grenades total but there aren’t plasma and spike grenade spawns on the same maps and the fire bombs were not in the multiplayer due to lag and framerate issues.

@Rhdon65 I completely agree with you brother. Like i said at the very least make the grenades spawn twice as slow as everything else so you can’t pick up 6 every time you spawn.

I’ll just say this, if you’re complaining that someone is throwing five or more grenades at you in a row without having to shoot, you’re playing wrong and deserve to get spam killed by grenades.

So if someone has a bunch of grenades and they’re chucking all of them at me as fast as possible, it’s my fault that they’re doing that? That doesn’t make any sense.

When players can hold a lot of grenades, they get carried away and just mindlessly throw them anywhere they see a red dot on their radar. Anyone with depth perception will stay away from the storm of explosives, and since that storm lasts twice as long it just slows the game down because players are just waiting instead of fighting.

When players have less grenades, they’re more likely to be cautious and make their throws count instead of just mindlessly spamming them around the corner, hoping that someone will be oblivious enough to step on one of their stray explosives.

That’s where you’re losing me. You say that a player should have less of a weapon against campers. If I know someone is hiding behind a corner, why should I have to walk into their trap? It’s clearly a trap. If I know they’re there, then I should have the upper hand. I shouldn’t have to tip the scales in their favor by being unable to smoke them out with grenades. Depending on the hiding spot, 2 grenades may be enough, but that isn’t always the case.

Yeah, allow me to spam you with every grenade I can hold and ask that question again. Grenade spam is annoying and an unskillful way to snag a kill.

2 grenades per type is plenty.

If I’m staying in that spot long enough to be killed, then I deserve it.

Well, if you’d been sitting there for a good chunk of the game farming kills with a power weapon, then yes. But if I’m running for cover and I take cover in a spot to recover and get back in the fight, a crapton of grenades is not what I want to see.

Of course you don’t WANT to see that when you’re ducking for cover. Seeing that means that you lost the fight you were just trying to escape from.
Plus, I’m not even referring to camping for a chunk of the game when I say “staying in that spot long enough to be killed”. I’m talking about the few seconds it takes to move when I see that first grenade coming. If I see a grenade come around the corner and I don’t get out of the way before more come, then I deserve to be killed. If I am in a spot where I can’t get away, then I deserve to be killed.

I agree, People seem to just mindlessly spam grenades constantly IMO. I haven’t even touched H2:A since Halo 3 ranking arrived

On Warlord it is literally a bowl of grenades that never ends. Imagine putting a cat in a tiny cage and lighting a long string of firecrackers in that cage. That’s what gameplay on Warlord is like. It’s just a clusterf–k of explosions because every death gives more grenades to the winning team, who just spams grenades at random and get overkill exterminations ad infinitum.

Couldn’t agree more with this. On circular maps like Warlock I sometimes see spam can become a problem but honestly one map’s problem isn’t worth the change.

I think plasma empanadas are some of the more skilled weapons in the game. Frags get annoying but, as you say, just move. They’re supposed to be annoying.

Grenades help to eliminate camping. One of the series recent failings is the lack of focus on grenade play.
