So over the last few days super excited to play this game to finally fill the void of a new competitive RTS… I’m huge into my Star Craft 2 Completive and Was super psyched by this. However after picking up the Ultimate edition so I could play early today it’s a bit of a let down.
Yeah Versus is running pretty smooth. Not really seeing much issues there except for a few balance issues - especially with some leader powers.
However in the last 20 online Games I’ve played. It’s been a pretty poor experience. Wins however cant really call them that because among other things I’m sure the enemy players were struggling with ‘derpy’ control inputs and sheer disconnections. The games I lost once again are due to units not listening to me, the game being completely un-responsive and the despite not even connecting to the game or the game loading to kick me out 10 seconds into the match.
Finally the ability to talk to your team-mate or other players is so limited. You cant even type post game. So yeah £65 is a pretty hefty price for a completely broken product. I appreciate it’s early days and some people may say “oh but wait for them to patch it and at least give them a chance”. If you purchased anything on the high street for it to be completely unreliable on you. You would instantly source either a replacement or Refund.
Anyone had any success or advice on getting a refund? I know its common for STEAM and Battle.net but do Microsoft roll with this?
Of the four Blizzard games I’ve played in the past year zero of them allow you to chat with your opponent after a matchmaking game without going into a messaging system. Granted the XBox app is the messaging system (you can view recent players and send them messages/friend invites if you don’t realize that) for this and no one wants to go into another app to text chat people while setting up games so you pretty much have to use voice chat with teams.
Anyway, I certainly think you deserve to be able to refund a game this quickly though I don’t know how MS is about granting them. There are other issues that will like take time to fix if they ever are (the radial UI is never going to actually be overhauled to suit PC) but I do think it’s a little over the top to refund mostly citing launch weekend (not even the full one) network problems. Those are top priority issues they actually do fix.
Okay so good news - I gave my case to Microsoft and they Gave me a full refund and have already actioned on it - The customer support staff were extremely helpful.
But yeah I’m going to give this one a mix - Due to its lack of care for PC Gamers and in-ability to provide a competitive platform it’s pretty disheartening.
Hope the early patches fix a bunch of bugs maybe I will buy it when/if they get the servers fixed.
Glad to hear that Support were able to help you with a refund, but sorry to see your troubles with the game. Hopefully we’ll see you back on Halo Wars again at some point. Feel free to open another topic if there’s anything else you wish to discuss about the game
