I want everyone to look like bog-standard, generic Spartans. Homogenous. It would be more immersive.
But I doubt they would ever add such a toggle as it would undermine the money-making potential of cosmetics. Do you suppose they might some day decide to make the game be third-person view, and third-person only, to incentivize micro-transaction money squandering?
The toggle made sense in MCC as a way of preserving the games in their original state as much as possible.
The whole business model of this game is selling season passes, possibly alongside selling additional cosmetics in the store. You seem to recognise this already, but why would they sell fancy virtual armour just to let other people disable it?
Yes, I know, that’s why I said I doubt they would ever add such a toggle. However, a nice compromise might be to let people who have purchased the $60 campaign turn off custom cosmetics.
How do you think its more immersive? In Canon SPARTAN-IVs in War Games displayed the same armors they would going into operations. Different armor configurations and so on are a norm in the overall branch and we’ve seen it from Fireteam Crimson to Fireteam Osiris.
Blue flaming helmet and stuff like that gives the game more character, and like already said in a F2P model will probably not go away.
Because a lot of customizations are just too out there even in the MCC, and I can only assume it will get even worse in Infinite. And less customization, less distraction.
Yeah, I’m not a fan of the non-canon helmets and stuff that they added to the MCC recently.
Lets hope so, probably a lot of noise will have to be made until 343 decides to add that toggle. Its a downside of GaS, developers need to create a lot of craptastic designs to offer “content”.
The third person mode you talked about would likely only be done in Campaign for cinematic/Machinima purposes but would never happen for MP as it would essentially flip the game balance and design wise.
they definitely will not have a toggle for any of the fracture armors. though for the really unconventional stuff like snowman heads, I’m hoping there’s a toggle or that at least those cosmetics are holiday restricted.
I seriously hope they won’t include such a toggle. It is part of the asthetics of the game. If you don’t like it, do what you’ve done the past 20 years (exluding TMCC).
What harm would having such a toggle personally cause you? You don’t have to use it, obviously, and it won’t affect your gameplay in the slightest if others have it on. You would never even know who has it on and who doesn’t.
well some of the stuff that recent companies have done is they want people to buy into the microtransations. so the company would want to match those who don’t buy in with those that do. A player probably would not have a issue. but the company might. It is the company you would need to sell the idea on. not the players. maybe create a poll for it and maybe try to show how many either wouldn’t care or are interested in having the feature.
…Spartans have been expressing their individuality for over ten years now - and as early as Reach we have Spartans in variable armor configurations.
Not to be that way but honestly, get with the program. The days of clad-in-green-black-and-gold Spartans is long, long gone and a thing of a very distant past. Even the Fall of Reach “Movie”, asserts that Spartans did not always have uniform gear.
So, like, get with it tbh. The Halo you’re asking for hasn’t really existed since… 2008.
I can see why people might want to not have crazy or “non-cannon” effects & armors in the game but at the end of the day that is what it is. A game. It is a game, and its supposed to be fun. I for one can’t wait to be a Samurai Spartan with flaming shoulders and face.
I hope if they do make a button , it makes everyone look like a boring Halo 2 master chief replica.
For me the immersion is quite important too. I really know what you mean and i support your idea (a toggle for the people, who purchased the campaign). I love the Halo universe and its setting, the feeling can be destroyed by armor and skins wich are not fitting.
Even in/or after gunfights or playing MP in general, i see if people wearing non fitting stuff (like in CoD MW, some people had the mask of Jigsaw from Saw, and other non-sense)
I doubt 343i want to go with the compromise you suggested, but it would be really cool^^
I don’t really feel it’s immersion breaking. Weird and bizarre armor permutations have been established in lore for a while now. It’s no different than modern day soldiers wearing trophies.
It’s not just the immersion, though. It’s also that there’s some cosmetics I simply don’t like and don’t want to see. I’d like to simply be able to turn off all customization and get the experience that I want, but I realize that’s unlikely to happen.
