They tend to get -Yoink- on by everything. Their gun damage is pretty pathetic even in large numbers and they are really squishy. It feels more like an upgraded scout than an actual mainline vehicle
I agree, it’s tricky though. Hog rush was a pain in HW1. As long as we can avoid that we’re good.
Hard to really ‘rush’ with tier 2 units
I have an izy build that has hogs up by 4min. That’s not really a rush though…

No, that is not a rush. Not in the slightest. A rush is strategy that involves sacrificing your own Eco to push with an “all in” force very early in an attempt to disrupt your opponent’s Eco/eliminate them.
What you’re talking about is a standard tech build. You’re focusing on your Eco, while sacrificing map control, in an attempt to push with with higher tech units before your opponent has equal units.
These are simple RTS terms. It’s important to use correct terminology. Here is a post made by Naka that goes much more in depth. I suggest reading through it.
EDIT: On topic. I really like where Hogs are right now. They seem to be doing exactly what they should be doing. I would like to see them do a little better against core infantry, though.

Hogs are very good right now as they are. Marauders are not as good but they too are good, just hate how they are a tiny bit too squishy when against CT Marines and slower than Hogs.
Didn’t we just have a ‘hog meta’

I love your posts, for real. A lot of them are very educational or insightful into the game, especially like this one.
When I see posts like this, I feel encouraged to re download the game (after it was uninstalled completely due to a bug with ATN’s download) and get into it again…
On the point of OP, I would make a point about hogs in their current state, but I have not played in a long time. However, based on what I’ve played, I do think their damage should be increased a bit more with each upgrade. However, again, I have no played in a long time so I don’t know if this has already been done.
Currently I don’t think Hogs really need a buff. They perform fine in their intended role.
@SaddestJoker (I fumbled this quote but it is in response to you)

This. I think hogs are fine. My go to in 2’s is Jerome, quick tech to T2 and double pump hogs while my teammate rushes with Goliaths. Very effective, ends most games quickly. The hogs chew through everything at this point, but for some reason, they don’t kill marines quite as quickly as I feel like they should. Hogs are in a good spot. It is a risky build, and if I get caught before I get enough hogs out, it is difficult to come back from, but hogs are effective enough for the part of the game they occupy. I would love to see them do a little better against infantry though. How are they now with their ram reflect damage decrease?
Hogs are great, CT marines should not trade so well vs them though.

Ummm…Maruaders are way better then Hogs and are still massively tanky and haven’t been changed yet, I don’t know what makes you think their worse then Hogs when they beat Hogs.

I haven’t tested that, but the general perception has been that Marauders were way worse than Hogs at least in late 2017 (during the Warthog meta), no? I realize for a time before that (at some point), Marauders were king?
I’m not seeing marauders get used much at all by the Banished on most 1v1 streams I watch, so I might have missed a recent patch or something. It’s also possible that marauders trounce warthogs as you’ve noted, but that doesn’t justify building many of them (if any of them) in the current meta.

Ayyy! Thank you, my guy, I appreciate that. I try my best to help out and share my knowledge.
Truthfully, I think now is a great time to get back into the game. The game is a decent spot balance wise, excluding some minor issues here and there. The only real pressing issue is the strength of Arby, but he’s only a serious issue in the late game and less than ten players can play him effectively, so it’s not something you’ll see often, if ever. Pavium is also a little much, but nothing compared to what Forge or Voridus used to be, lol.
Playing with Hog’s DPS is dangerous, as we don’t want another season of quick tech Hogs. Their damage is decent to just about every target and they can wipe out most ground targets via Ram, which is a strong asset. As I and other have stated, there main issue is that they don’t mop Marines (like they should).
Thank you again for the kind words!

Glad to hear you agree.
Some advice for your 2’s build; consider backing up your partner with your hero/Marines. The inspire buff isn’t anything to sleep on and can make a big difference when stacking it on 2 armies. Marines also act as an excellent buffer and can be used to help protect the Goliaths. Jerome is pricey to get on T1, but his DPS and Inspire make him worth it, IMO. Additionally, you could also go Inspired Snipers to support the Goliaths if you’re up against heavy infantry spam.
Ram is still very strong and can be extremely effective if used you well. Would like to see it do less damage to AV (mostly Cyclops), to be honest.

Maruader and Hog spam had their own entire meta.
Hog spam was only good with 2 leaders.
Maruader spam could’ve been done with anyone and it was difficult to control since AV didn’t beat them.
From what i’ve heard Maruaders still beat Air a bit but Hogs get dumped on.

Hogs and Marauders are even in a fight, until T3. However, Marauders are slower and have a shorter fire rate to Hogs while they are only tanky, giving Hogs a more reasonable advantage. Plus, Hogs have Ram while Marauders slow units they hit. At T3, Marauders are tanky at T2 but T3 is a pushover on Hogs as they are far too tanky to compete; But the chances of Marauders getting T3 are slim as they may fall in usefulness while costing power. Late game Marauders>Hogs but early and mid game is Hogs>=Marauders.
Nerf Marines instead
