I mean why do we go up 1-4 points for a win and then just straight up down 15 for a loss. What would be so difficult about having a ranked system that’s just up 5 for a win down 10 for a loss… I would be fine with that winning 80 percent of my games. Or even just each game worth 5 up or down.
There’s supposedly a worksheet that explains the way Halo matchmaking works but it’s easier to just say that it’s convoluted and confusing for no reason. You either win or you lose lol that’s it. Just because you killed 5 players in 5 seconds doesn’t mean you’re automatically a professional Halo player that needs their rank re-evaluated by the MMR. Because 9 times out of 10 that player had a rocket launcher and sword in their pocket and they stole three of their team mates kills, so skill had nothing to do with it, it was mostly luck of the spawn…
I think they set it up this way to drag out the game play. Make players play for longer and more matches, possibly to make Infinite look more populated.
“Because 9 times out of 10 that player had a rocket launcher and sword in their pocket”
I know what you’re getting at here but to me that just strikes me as someone who knows timers, map layout and understands the importance of getting power weapons before the enemy team.
But agreed the Halo matchmaking is convoluted and as always, never works as intended.
So I have been one or two matches away from Diamond three times now.
Every time I get within ranking up distance the game decides I need to go on a massive losing spree.
2 times I was knocked all the way backwards into middle Plat 5. This most recent attempt I had fallen all the way to Plat 4.
These are matches where I perform really well in comparison to my usual play but I still lose the match and a massive amount of experience because the team members I get placed with either don’t contribute or the game has them set on a losing spree as well. To top it off I even lost Rank when my team dropped a player at the start of the match and that normally means you do not lose any Rank, however when you are destined for a losing spree it seems there’s exceptions made to make sure you fall back as much as possible.
Honestly I’m getting extremely frustrated with this system. I would like to know what Rank I belong in without the game intentionally pulling me back down with match making.
It has to be by design that they throw you in these loss spirals when you get close to ranking up because it always seems to happen just as I’m about to hit a new rank. I’ll suddenly be paired with golds against a team of plat with a diamond sprinkled in even though when I’m progressing through Plat5-6 and winning, I never get paired with gold. Only when I’m close to leveling up.
This system is terrible it’s no wonder Ranked match making is practically dead. I play the same players every evening until like I mentioned previously the game decides I need to go on a losing spree and tosses me new people that don’t contribute. I can have the most kills in the match with 3min on the oddball and still lose 25% of my rank or something stupid. Like this system needs to go entirely.
I will say for the most part its based on KD.
Made it to Onyx this season after placing Diamond 2 to start so from my experience here is how i ranked up the most:
Wins:
-high KD = big jump up
-low KD = barely move up at all
Losses:
-extremely high KD = barely fall
-high KD = fall a bit
-mid KD = fall a good amount
-low KD = drastic fall, sometimes a third of a rank
Some tips, if you are losing and you know there is no chance for a come back, try to get your KD up and play way safer than you normally would. This will help you not drop as much after a loss. Good luck out there.
Can you pls fix your crapy game? The nades are way too powerful and you need to fix your ranking system. for the sake of halo care about your game.
