Can we talk about Exile for a second?

I mean really, anyone that has seen my posts prior to this already knows how I feel about balanced layouts, I’ve many a time ranted about Halo: Reach’s ‘Spire’ and it’s heavies counterpart ‘Cragmire’. After playing on Exile for a fair bit, I think it’s safe to assume that Exile is the new Spire.

Here’s the deal, if you’re on the Blue Team, you’ll spawn with a Gauss Warthog. If you’re on the Red Team, you’ll spawn with the Tank.

Now this might sound balanced, but keep in mind that both vehicles have a OHK effect (One Hit Kill), and to boot, although the Gauss Hog’s splash damage is tighter than the Scorpion’s, the latter’s splash damage is already so small that any splash damage difference at all between the two is practically negligible.

Additionally, the Gauss Hog is smaller, faster and more maneuverable than the Scorpion as well as having a faster rate of fire, in my opinion, this completely outmatches the Scorpion despite the latter having superior armour and stability.

To boot, the spawn times are completely different! On Exile, the Scorpion’s spawn time is set to four minutes whilst the Gauss Hog’s is at a measly one minute and thirty seconds. This means that during the course of a 15 minute game, the Scorpion will spawn no more than four times whilst the Gauss Hog could spawn up to ten times! This means that a Gauss Hog is generally easier to maintain as they respawn so dramatically quickly.

So, that’s my two cents. Personally, I think this map needs some STRONG re-balancing.

I do agree. the assymetrical design of the map, combined with the vehicle distribution, really does seem a bit OP. scorpion should probably just get a slight armor buff, and gauss hog should spawn at least once every 3 minutes. currently, they only have to balance the scorpion on this map.

the scorpions main problem, is that it doesn’t have any cover, and it’s super huge. even with cover, it has to put itself in the line of fire in order to hit anything. meanwhile, the gauss hog can fly by and zap you unless you hiding from it. if they had similar spawn times, that would help a lot, but if the scorpion had a little more shields, that would make up for a lack of cover.

Agreed.

I would rather play on Ragnarock a 100 times than play Exile once. Hate that map so much.
