Can we show some appreciation?

I mean really. So what if 343i is using Halo Reach for the multiplayer. That shouldn’t matter. So what if they’re using Reach models for biped models, vehicles, weapons, ect. 343i did a beautiful job remastering and updating this game. Halo Combat Evolved’s main focus was campaign. And its been wonderfully redone with today’s amazing graphics. As for the multiplayer maps they look incredible and they bring back old memories with a new look and more ways to play them. They are even throwing some bonuses in. Terminals, skulls and online co-op, so what if its only two player. Thats how it was before and four people would make it too easy. We’re getting a chance to relive the original Master Chief experience as if those fools back at ONI knocked the dust off our optics. Its gonna be something to cherish and if you’re gonna complain about the little things. Then too bad for you. “For all you greenhorns who wanted to see covenant up close. I think the majority is extremely happy with the project, its just the crazies are the loudest. Most people are very happy with what is all packaged with CEA and those who still want more will always want more.

Yeah but it seems like its split 50 50. At least on the forums. All I have to say is I’ve been expecting a remake for three years at least and I’m just happy with the chance to switch back and forthe between graphics.

For some people the MP was Halo and they feel that they have been forgotten. You can’t blame them for wanting it, but they should remember that 343 couldn’t split the player base.

Agree.

maaaaannn…where’s peter griffin? ;(

I’m one of the few people who liked both Reach and it’s multiplayer (I say that having played all of them) so I’m happy overall with the package and that they went the extra step to retcon continuity by incorporating Reach’s assets into the original (expect for the ring). I personally think they went a little over board with their lighting in certain aspects but overall they’ve done a fantastic job. It’s a shame my 360 got RRoD a week after I preordered mine a month ago :frowning:

Then that’s all that matters. Nit pickers are never happy anyways, no point in pleasing that which can never be pleased. Not sure how people live life like that and remain sane/happy.

If you show nothing but blind appreciation, the establishment is going to stop caring about what you want and focus on what’s best for themselves. You always have to throw constructive criticism at those in control and never forget to voice your opinion.

I feel that the majority are very happy and thankful, but the obnoxious -Yoink–wipes are the loudest out of then bunch.
So thank you 343i, I know the forms don’t do it anuff for you guys.

omg thank you somebody agrees with me this was an awesome post…PS sweet quote from sgt johnson flash back i cant wait to play the campaign

343 isn’t immune to criticism. We are their consumers, and if we’re not happy with the product we have a right to complain.

I get that criticism is important. But my message is directed to those people who pick out one thing and say that they won’t buy the game because of it.

The people that complain about it don’t understand that there is no Halo CE multiplayer mode for the Xbox. Therefore, there is no reason to make a multiplayer for Halo CE just for this game, especially when they’re using the Reach engine to transform it.

The Reach engine is the easiest to use for it, therefore, it’s Reach’s MP with new (old) maps.

If they don’t get that, they shouldn’t buy it anyway. This game is meant for the players that have played the original and enjoyed it. It’s not a new Halo game. Same thing happened with ODST. People though it was a new game, rather than an expansion, and when people realized that, they stopped liking it (from what I’ve seen/heard at least).

Exactly. Its a damn shame.

> The people that complain about it don’t understand that there is no Halo CE multiplayer mode for the Xbox.

Yes, there is. The problem is that it’s split-screen/LAN-only. Most of the complaints are from people who have played it and loved it; very long-term, still-dedicated fans of the original game, many of whom still play it in some form or another.

What the people in this thread don’t realize is that their arguments are irrelevant to those people; people who love the game so much that they don’t imagine it being improved at all, and whose only demand of a rerelease has for years been that it make a certain aspect that has long been difficult to access well be made more accessible. To say that what they’re complaining about “shouldn’t matter” is certainly going to be seen by them as nonsense, and they’re just going to ignore anyone who tells them that they “can’t be pleased,” because it’s been very obvious for a decade what would please them.

I fully understand that part of the argument. I’ve played split screen CE multiplayer with friends before. And I’ve played Halo PC where the mp may not have the greatest net code but if you got used to the ping its amazing. I feel for these people who felt let down when it was announced multiplayer was still based in Reach. I had even said, and I quote “I swear to god. If they don’t remake the original multiplayer I won’t bother with this game at all.” Then I saw the terminals trailer and my inner fan shouted obsceneties at my soul for saying such blasphemous things. My point is that really if you’re that dissapointed, go ahead and say it. But most of the people complaining aren’t concerned with multiplayer that much. Its usually things like “Why on earth would they use those models from Reach and not make new ones?” or “I hate that they’re using the Reach banshee model.” And things like “The marines are green now why are their BDUs green? Thats wrong!” Trivial stuff like that which won’t affect anything in the least bit other than acsetically. And the game still looks great. So why does it matter so much?

I am very pleased with everything 343 has done so far, cheers 343.

I’m actually happy that there is no MP online for CEA, it would have a tiny population and would feel absolutely nothing like CE on LAN.

> Trivial stuff like that which won’t affect anything in the least bit other than acsetically.

Considering that the work done on campaign is primarily aesthetic in nature, I find it a little amusing that you find aesthetic complaints so minor of an issue. Aesthetics can have just as large an effect on how a game feels as the mechanics of the game, and if someone doesn’t like the new aesthetics, it makes sense that they might not purchase it, especially if they already own Halo 1.

I personally think you’re looking at this the wrong way; most of the stuff people bring up is reasonable to bring up. The issue is that it’s being brought up in the midst of two volatile camps, and it’s usually being brought up in confrontational ways.

It’s not like only one group is to blame, either; confrontational posts wouldn’t explode if nobody attacked back. This forum is just an icky environment right now.

Oh, well those people are just horrible hypocrites.
