Hey guys so i wanted to kind of just put my thoughts out there on this. first i wanted to say as much as i love the marines in Halo can we get more of the other branches? yes we see the Army a little bit in reach but its not really obvious, and most people think that there just more marines. also of course we do see a bit of the UNSC Navy throughout the game as well. i would love it if 343 expanded on the universe more by fessing out all of the UNSC branches of the military. ODST are awesome but dont you think in a universe as big and detailed as Halo they realistically wont be the only Spec Ops Force besides Spartans. i would love to see Army Rangers, and Air Force PJ Ect. as i really think not only will this add to the detail of the world, but also be a fun concept in Halo. The IRL military have different Spec Ops units that specialize in different things, for instance PJ are amazing search and rescue teams, and the Rangers are basically the Spec Ops direct action guys who go in and f stuff up. I serve in the US Military and would really like to see the Halo universe take more concepts from the militaries around the world. I think this will again not only be fun, but increase immersion. IDK guys maybe its just me who thinks this what what do you all think?
I get where you’re coming from but keep in mind, the other branches like Army and Air Force are meant for defending UEG/UNSC territory, bases and other assets. Since you’re likely to usually travelling to the unknown for a good portion of the series, you’re more likely to just see the expeditionary branches like Marines. Halo Reach had soldiers and airmen so anything is possible.
I’m honestly not sure about the lore, but what function would an “Air Force” even serve in the 26th century?
Considering all of space is dominated by massive ships (the “Navy”) with fighter wings attached to them, and ships can seamlessly transition from the surface of a planet into outer space…what exactly would an “Air Force” even do that isn’t covered already by the Navy?
The contemporary concept of an Air Force in 2020 no longer applies in that universe so I don’t see why it would exist as a separate branch.
I’m pretty sure the “marines” we’ve been seeing are in actuality the army troopers. They are wearing armor that looks a great deal like an upgraded army bdu, the new assault rifle is an MA40, which is by all accounts a newer model made to replace the army’s MA37, and the UNSC Infinity was said to have an army division on board.
Definitely would awesome to see whether in the games or the novels. Would definitely be kool to see if they have different body armor especially the special forces of each branch.

The UNSC Air Force are in charge of the orbital defense platforms and satellites as well as the aerospace interceptors, like the Sabre, which are deployed from planets into the atmosphere rather then directly from ships. They mostly served a defensive role in the war, similar to the UNSC Army. The UNSC would also likely have their own close air support vehicles that the Air Force would own and operate, much like how the A-10 “Warthog” is used today.
I’m not sure about you guys but i would LOVE ODSTs in infinate, maybe even a halo 6 ODST spinoff?
I understand the lore of it but i think its a bit silly. to me that like saying marines are tasked with guarding embassies. that’s true but that’s not all they do. realistically every branch of the military plays a defensive and offensive role and if they want to make the halo universe more realistic i think they need to add more structure to all the branched including the marines. Also its a bit silly to say the army is only playing a defensive role as they are the main fighting force and the oldest branch of the U.S. i know UNSC is obviously not just one country but its seems to be based of the US military (not talking about lore but writing) and the Marine Corp and the Army are the only two branches with Infantry. The Army and Air Force may be tasked with defensive roles in the Halo universe which makes sense as the Army is the largest branch they should have the man power but it shouldn’t be their only role and i doubt it is. that would be like if today irl the Air Force and Army were only tasked with defending the nation and the Marines and Navy would be the offense deploying to wars. not only does that not make any military strategic sense, its also organizing military branches completely wrong. i know this is kind of just my own wish list but i would like to see the halo universe military like it is today, with the Army being the main fighting force primarily launching ground campaigns, Marines much like the Army being a fighting force but one that is usually attached to the Navy whos focus would be the halo equivalent to amphibia’s assaults. The Navy obviously playing the role they currently do which is having massive space fleets with aviation units as well, and air force perhaps having a smaller fleet focused on deploying smaller air craft. i realize it may just be me who thinks this way but i just really care about halo and think its military structure needs a lot of work to make it feel more real.
If this game is based on an UNSC held world or expansion then there would be a chance to see these branches in the game. Which I’m always down for, being a huge nerd for in-game models.
I hope we see ODST’s in Infinite, they’re still around in the canon so nothing’s sstopping them from appearing
I feel like we already got too much on our plates. Not to mention, it seems like the Chief is interacting with army forces and not the marines. Like somebody else pointed out, that alone is a bit weird. Army normally are defence forces and not the guys jumping into the unkown! I’m hyped to see Chief interacting with them though!^^
