Can We PLEASE See Gamertags in social lobbies

I think it is a good idea to not see who you are coming up against during any kind of ranked matchmaking, but in a social lobby, I would much rather see the entire list of players instead of just my fireteam. To be quite honest, I believe this is a very crucial and overlooked aspect in terms of social improvements. Halo 3 and Halo Reach had a roughly similar layout and I found it was perfect. You could look at each player, check out their armor, their screenshots (which we also need for file share, btw), and other files. Now, all we can do is just see a bunch of emblems (which you can hardly customize, btw) and it doesn’t really do much good for the community.

I know this may not seem like a huge deal, but I truly think it takes away from the social feel of the game, and that is something Halo 5 is incredibly lacking in. So please, 343, while we wait for a match to begin while in social playlists, let us see all the players, not just the fireteam. Maybe you could be able to toggle between the two. And please, you guys on the forums, get this known. I haven’t seen anyone else ever talk about this on the forums but it should be.

Never. We’re never allowed to see people’s names espically so when they talk you don’t know who it is and you can’t mute them. I wish we would get that. It does add to the social aspect of it.

I agree with you OP. I find it very strange that I’m unable to look at any of the other players prior to the beginning of the match.

Along with that, they need to frickin fix the lobby game chat. Seriously, why is there no chat in the lobbies? That is just so… dumb. It makes playing custom games with full lobbies an absolute pain. Ugh. 343 sometimes.

Speaking of which, I have never played a custom games lobby yet. Can you even see people’s names in that?

Yeah I don’t understand why it can’t be a list like Custom Games have. See whos on red team and blue team with emblems showing…

Yes you can, thankfully.

Well, I know exactly why its like that. Every single playlist we had originally was considered “ranked.” I guess people at 343 expected everyone to try to play as competitively as possible. We can definitely see that in their early trailers since before the beta came out. If you were able to see players in ranked playlists, you could exploit matches by starting xbox live parties and what not. So for ranked playlists i think it is a good idea, but we clearly want more social playlists and with that we need a social lobby. And yeah, it should work exactly like a CG lobby.

Yeah, I agree. If only because we need the ability to mute people, or even report them if they are being verbally abusive.

I heard a grown man absolutely curse out a child the other day. I think kids on mics can be annoying too, but it is super inappropriate to swear at them and threaten to hurt them if they don’t shut up and it clearly violates both Microsoft and 343’s rules for online play. Problem was, once the game started the guy who was cursing at the kid was silent, so there was no way to check his gamer tag and do something about it. It got me thinking about how the lack of this feature kind of puts the community at risk. You can say whatever you want in the lobby, up to and including things that might be illegal (like saying sexually explicit things to children for example), without being held accountable in any way.

Not to mention the much more common thing of obnoxious music or background noise (I swear this one guy had a cat in heat howling into his mic) with no way to mute until after the game starts.

Don’t really care to see the opposing team in the pregame lobbies anymore. Scoping out opposing tags and service records is pretty overrated by now. Just jump in the game and play who you’re matched against.

Really? Overrated? It’s just plain fun, and makes it more of a community experience. Plus, it gives you something to actually do while you wait for the match to load. I LOVED looking at peoples screenshots and files before a match started.

Search times are so quick now that I barely have time to manage the req situation, if I don’t have to do actually do anything between the games. It used to be a valuable tool for looking up stats of the folks you’re going against, but it’s not like you’re going to magically be a better player if you’re aware someone has a good service record.

I actually like keeping my identity a secret.

I’m not talking at all about search times, I’m talking about when you actually find a lobby. It takes a good 2 or 3 minutes to actually load the game up, and during that time, you can look at all this cool stuff. Obviously it doesn’t help you play better, but it’s still nice to be able to look at peoples file share and stats. It’s just better to have more features, period. Which is what this game needs at the moment. Plus, even if we can’t see the stats, it’d still be nice to just see what the damn teams are, and the gamertags.
