Can we Please have De-scope Addressed?

In my honest opinion, de-scope is neccessary in Halo because it creates a larger skill gap for snipers and other precision weapons, and balances out the gameplay .It also makes the gameplay more interesting in my opinion. De-scope worked very well in past titles and I honestly cannot see any reason why is was replaced with the current system. In my opinion flinch is too random and breaks a big part of the shooting mechanics.

Could someone (preferably from 343i) please explain the reason for this illogical decision? Almost everyone I talk to, whether it be on the forums or in-game or real life, agree that they would like the see the return of de-scope. Not to mention the various polls on Waypoint that clearly indicate de-scope is wanted.

Is 343i even aware of this issue or have they made any comments on whether they are considering reverting this change? Any info would be appreciated.

Descope rescope and all was annoying.

because descope with a dmr is impossible
imagine a cross map where your hit every second and cant zoom in
think before you rant

Im not ranting at all - I’m simply stating my opinion in a clear and mature manner. I really don’t appreciate the rudeness.

Besides that, you clearly missed the point of my thread and your argument makes no sense whatsoever. It isn’t impossible, it worked well in Reach and in every other Halo.

> Descope rescope and all was annoying.

Yes I remember that being a little annoying but it was part of what balanced gameplay.

Don’t you think that the sniper gains an unfair advantage in the current system? Also, it takes away the need for no-scoping/quickscoping, an interesting part of sniping in all other Halo’s.

Flinch was added because the multiplayer designer of 343 didn’t like being descoped. That’s an extremely nice and sugarcoated way of putting it.

I think the sniper is way overpowered now that descoping is gone.

People with snipers can literally just stop moving while I shoot them with my DMR and eventually they’ll get me before I get them.

I remember in Reach how impressed I was when someone headshoted with a sniper while I was shooting them. It took skill. Now it’s just boring and common because everyone can do it.

Every single illogical decision, in our eyes my friend, was done for the absolute purpose of decreasing the skill gap and making the game easier for the people who disliked previous Halo games because they wernt easy-mode

I don’t know why the issue hasn’t been addressed considering theres a 17 page thread in the poll section with a poll between having flinch or having descoping. Majority of the votes in that thread were in favor of descoping rather than flinch. The playlist that flinch ruins the most is team snipers. I personally don’t like flinch because it turns virtually every gun fight into a long range gun fight because you aren’t knocked out of scope. Flinch coupled with the DMR on maps like ragnarok promote slow and unmoving gameplay.

Its nice bumping into people who know what they are talking about, its an incredible rarity on these forums, i didnt take descope into account in some of my opinions, now i have another point to make to support what i have to say

De-scoping was by far the most awful thing in the Halo franchise. A player should not have to battle their own gun while in a firefight.

When are you people ever going to comprehend that the kids on the forum are NOT the majority?

Does this guy even remember Reach?

Does this guy even Halo?

> A player should not have to battle their own gun while in a firefight.

It is not your own gun that makes you de-scope, it’s all the bullets bouncing off your face.

Sure not many people post here but do you care if I give you an example?

A game I used to play and frequent the forums quite a bit under went a massive change. For months the forums were filled with complaints, and all the while the population of the game was steadily decreasing (was an mmo so population is quite important.) What was once 120k average went down to 40k average, and still the forums were deemed the minority and we were ignored. Well eventually the devs decided we dont have much to lose at this point, their player base was dropping like fly’s. So they introduced a some servers that did not have the changes on it that forced people to quit. Well long story short the “minority” turned out to be half the population. The servers that dont have the changes on it have 55k average and the servers that do have the change have 50k average.

So while not many people post on the forums the views are shared with other people who cannot be bothered to post on the forums. Kinda off topic but too me that just proves the forums are more important then people give them credit for.

Ive posted this before but its relevant.

i like descope cause it was actually balanced and didnt turn into a scope duel fest with br/dmr. also snipers took skill to use under pressure back when descope still existed. clutch quick scopes and noscopes always left a good taste

> Descope rescope and all was annoying.

This. It also was about whoever shot first from across the map. It’s fine as it is. Also, if descoping is brought back the Lightrifle will be almost useless.

Being able to use the scope is an advantage. When you’re in a firefight with someone, if you’re able to use the scope that means you earned your advantage since the other player is either missing or you have more skill in that battle by being able to use your scope in-between shots and hitting your target.

There is hardly any skill involved now. You basically just have to hold down while you shoot to accommodate flinch or not even that if you have the specialization equipped to lesson the flinch. There is no point in even trying to shoot snipers at range now. It’s ridiculous.

WHAT? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Descoping means you have a chance to knock someone else out of their scope. THE BETTER SHOT USUALLY WINS. Unlike in Halo 4, where whoever shoots first almost always wins.

Do any of you guys even know what a skill gap is?

I disagree completely that the old way was better. Sure you were “de-scoped” but the reticle (or however the hell it’s spelled, I am having no luck with it) remained in the same spot. I’ve been shot and still managed to get many headshots, it didn’t matter that they shot me, my reticle remained in the same spot and I only needed a slight adjustment.

The flinch removes that by moving it instead, greatly upsetting the zen I found myself in at times. It’s a far more effective disruption from my experiences.
